Tho appearance of main street has been considerably Improved by the ndditlon of new husinoss blocks and by remodeling of old buildings. On the corner of Main and Kir has been erected a one-story while porcelain brick finished structure with a front of a half block. This building has been so constructed that with the growth of the city, other stories may be addeti as they aro needed. This modern structure stands on the ground formerly occupied by tho Ho tel Moore and a number of one-story frame buildings. DeVoe's grocery is now housed in a one-stnry brick building on the cor ner of Main and Onkdnlc streets. The series of frame and brick rooms ad joining the Medford Hotel, formerly occupied by the store are now being razed. (New ninrble fronts have been placed In tho buildings on the half block on the north side of Main street nl l-'ir. The building occupied by N'unnl's bakery, on Kir street, off Main, has been entirely remodeled, n front of white porcelain brick and plate gluss being Installed. Within tho building machinery lias been installed for the making of bread under modern scien tific methods. At least, give us some reason, if you can, why such an unjust burden should be placed upon the people.
