Christenson had the well near his place sunk to a depth of ten feet and has now eight feet of water in the well. The celebration at Heppner yester day and today Is attracting a large crowd even though the weather is al most unbearably hot. C. L. Porter and wife, of Platsburg, Mo., have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Thomas the past month, left for their home last Monday. In Dr. Hunter's garden is several stock of Maccaroni wheat that stands about four feet high The Doctor has a fine garden in many othef respects. At the creamery meeting last Sat urday afternoon all the stock was not represented so an adjourned meeting will be held next Saturday evening 'at 8 o'clock. Berry and James DeLong re turned from the Louis Padberg ranch last Saturday, where they have just completed the finishing work on Mr. Padberg's new residence, which is one of the neatest and most modern farm houses in the county. Mr. Stull returned from Dufur Mon day and says that the stock for a creamery at that point had been se cured. Mr. Maxwell, the solicitor who spent two weeks in Lexington had been there but was called home on account of the death of a daughter. The Wheatfield has just completed arrangements with the Oregon Journal whereby we are able to furnish the Oregon Daily Journal, including the Sunday Issue, and The Wheatfield, one year $7. A few families gathered In the grove yesterday for a picnic dinner ,and en deavored to escape some of the heat. A very enjoyable time was had by all, and the fireworks were lovely. W. E. Leach and Mrs. Ray McAlister had charge of the display. Chas. J. Schumann, traveling rep resentative of the Pacific Northwest was in our city Thursday. The Pacif ic Northwest will send a number of young ladies to the Jamestown Exposi tion next January, and Miss Audrey Woolery, of lone, will be Morrow county's candidate. Each one of the party sent will be required to distribute advertising matter relative to the county they represent. The subscrip tion to the Pacific Northwest Is 50c per year and each years subscription allows one vote.
