Lexington has a splendid system of water works, electric lighting system, two churches, good graded school, two general stores, flouring mill, bank, drug store, doctor, two blacksmith shops, meat. market, jewelry store, pastime, agricultural implement house, barber shop, two saloons, two hotels, newspa per, lumber yard, two dray lines, pho tographer, real estate agency and a first class creamery in course of con struction. Lexington is situated nine miles from Heppner, the county seat of Mor row county, and is in the heart of the very best farming community in the county. Morrow county has a population of about 6,500, land area 2,021 square miles, standing timber 147,000,000 feet, Climate, annual rainfall 15 inches, mean temperature 50 degrees, the soil is a heavy loam, plenty of good' county roads. Members of the U. S. Geological survey have stated that Morrow county is in the artesian basin. J. T. McMil lan stated a few days ago that if crops were good, and .every indica tion points that way, that he would be one of ten men to put $500. into an experimental well and if artesian wat er is found the person owning the lar.d will pay the expense of drilling the well and the company would still own the machine for future use.
