LEXINGTON GROWS WITHOUT WATCHING i 41! I y y l litL VOL. I LEXINGTON, OREGON, THURSDAY JULY 12, 1900 NO, 42 LOCAL NEWS ' Miss Sylvia Booher returned last evening from a two weeks visit with relatives at Athena. Editor Hicks, of The Heppner Times, was a passenger on Mondays' train to Portland and the coast, Mr, Hicks will purchase considerable new material for The Times before return ing. . ' The Wheatfield family was given another treat this week by being sup plied with vegetables from the gardens of B. M. Booher and Dr. ,Hunter. We are at home every day to receive "garden truck". L. S. Gllbreath, of the Kerr Gifford Warehouse, Informs The Wheatfield that new wheat will be on the market next week, Mr. Gllbreath is of the opinion that a great deal of the wheat will grade number one. The Wheatfield has just completed arrangements with the Oregon Journal whereby we are able to furnish the Oregon Daily Journal, including the Sunday issue, and The Wheatfield, one year $7. The Daily Journal and Wheatfield one year $5. The Semi Weekly Journal and The Wheatfield one year $1.75. , , The hailstone continues to show a steady, healthy growth. A few years ago hailstones the size of pigeon eggs aroused our interest; later we were called on to admire some as large as hens' eggs, and now we give the tribute of pleased surprise to hailstones as large as oranges. We confidently look forward to the time when some en thusiastic correspondent, writing of the mammoth wonders of the county fair, will throw conservatism to the winds and tell us of the prize pumpkin nearly as big as a hailstone.
