Cities soliciting feedback on Umatilla River Trails project HERMISTON HERALD A series of community workshops will solicit input on plans for the Umatilla River Trails project. West Umatilla County cities are planning to build a series of recreational trails along the Umatilla River that they hope will some- day be connected into a sin- gle trail that will take users from Echo to the mouth of the Columbia River in Umatilla. The trails would connect approximately 25 miles of river, providing access for walking, running, cycling, horseback riding, kayak- ing and more. Plans also include opportunities to highlight cultural, histor- ical and natural resources along the trail. Each workshop will begin at 5 p.m., with a presentation starting at 5:30 p.m. and opportunity to ask questions and give feedback on the proposal. More information, includ- ing an online survey, can be found on the Umatilla River Trails Project Face- book page. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 9:28 a.m. Unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle was report- ed on southwest ninth street. 1:06 p.m. a woman called the police to report that on monday, sept. 16, a student alleged that she ran them over while she was driving on Highland avenue. she said this didn’t happen and that her insurance company advised her to report the incident. 5:52 p.m. a fight occurred at southeast Fifth street and east newport avenue. 8:06 p.m. a fight between two men was reported east main street. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 9:03 a.m. a domestic distur- bance occurred on southwest 10th street. 1:09 p.m. On northeast 10th street, an assault was reported. 2:17 p.m. a man living near West poplar avenue said that there was garbage every- where and an old bike left in the street. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 12:45 a.m. an armed subject was reported on southwest 11th street and West Orchard avenue. 12:55 a.m. On West Highland avenue, an assault occurred. 3:19 a.m. Unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle was reported on West ridgeway avenue. 6:29 a.m. there was a cow on the loose on southwest ninth street. 10:49 a.m. police took a re- port for domestic disturbance on south Highway 395. 12:37 p.m. On West ridgeway avenue, police responded to another domestic distur- bance. 4:31 p.m. a woman was walk- ing in the middle of the street at northeast Fourth street and east elm avenue. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 3:51 a.m. police responded to reports of shots fired on north First street. 5:35 a.m. On West Hermiston avenue, police took a report of a burglary. 12:48 p.m. police made an arrest following a domestic disturbance which occurred on northwest third street. 4:28 p.m. another domestic disturbance occurred on West Juniper avenue. 5:39 p.m. police responded to a domestic disturbance on West ridgeway avenue. 6:48 p.m. again on West ridgeway avenue, officers ini- tiated activity for a domestic disturbance. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 5:12 a.m. there was a big black garbage bag and other litter on northwest third street that looked suspicious. 8:44 a.m. a man reports that he may be on the hit list of an ex-coworker, according to someone he knows. 12:20 p.m. a woman reported that a green pontiac with a flat tire appeared on her street, and she wants to know what will be done with it. 10:16 a.m. On West ridgeway avenue, a man wants to indi- viduals to leave his residence. they moved in previously, and he doesn’t want them there anymore. 12:44 p.m. On West Juniper avenue, a man believes someone was looking around his vehicles and maybe en- tered his truck bed. Whoever it was seemed to have left behind a black bag. the man said none of his property had been stolen. 2:28 p.m. On southwest third avenue, a woman reported that the people neighboring her business have been tak- ing up the parking spaces. 3:19 p.m. a man wanted to speak to the police following a strange incident on thurs- day outside ace Hardware. He said he pulled into the park- ing lot to adjust his seat, and as he was leaving another car 10:36 a.m. a woman would like to speak to an officer about being harassed by phone by her daughter’s ex. 1:00 p.m. there is a strange school bus with boarded up windows in the parking lot near the dollar tree. It’s been there for several days, and people have been knocking on the door of the bus. 1:13 p.m. Unauthorized use of a motorized vehicle was re- ported on West elm avenue. 3:32 p.m. On north First street, there was a drunk driver. 8:21 p.m. a domestic distur- bance occurred on northeast sixth street.
