A. held its third meeting of the year last week at the Umatilla high school with ap proximately 30 members present. The guest speaker of the evening was V. E. Anderson, who is associated with the Pacific Paint * Chemical Co., Portland. He gave helpful suggestions on redecorating the lunch room, i which is the present project of the group. Mass will be celebrated at the community hall at Ordnance on Sunday, November 21 at 11:15 a. m.; on the following Sunday Mass at Ord nance will be at 8:00 a. m., and so on, with Mass alternating on each Sun day at the hours of 11:15 and 8 a. m. On each fourth Sunday, however, Mass at Ordnance will be celebrated at 7:30, so that the people at Pilot Rock may have the opportunity of having an early Mass. Following is the complete schedule of Masses at all churches or tenters in the parish, on all Sundays from Sunday, November 21, to the last Sunday of December. SERMON TOPICS TO CONTINUE The evangelistic meetings at the Church of Christ continue with good interest. The evangelist’s sermon top ics for another week beginning with Friday night of this week are as fol lows: Friday night, “After Death What?” (No services Saturday night); Sun day morning, “Tragedies of The Lord’s Supper”; Sunday night, “The Most Important Question Anyone Can Ask”, a chart sermon; Monday night, “A Bible Hell”; Tuesday. “Saved and How To Know It”; Wednesday, “The Great Salvation”; Thursday, “A Man Who Was Afraid of His Wife”. Distribution and rationing pro grams for machinery and farm sup plies will be explained, and farmers will be asked to express their opin ions on the goals. Instead of setting uniform dates for the election meetings throughout the state, the state AAA committee is let ting county committees determine when the meetings will be held in each county. In this way, Shepherd explained, the elections can be held in connection with other meetings and arranged in accordance with local conditions. Cream 14 cup shortening with I cup brown sugar, firmly packed; add 2 eggs and beat well Dredge 1 cup grated, raw carrots. 1 cup grated, raw potatoes. 1 cup raisins. }2 cup finely chopped candied lemon peel (optional), and 1 cup finely chopped walnut meats in 12 cup of the flour mixture, and beat well; add fruit-nut mixture. Fill well-greased 112 qt. mold 23 full; cover tightly. Steam 3 hours or until done. Serve with lemon or hard sauce. Serves 10 to 12. The program will be ex plained and applications for October payments taken following the election, Shepherd said. Urging farmers to attend the meet ing in their community, Shepherd pointed out that every farmer or rancher who has taken part in any program administered by the Agricul tural Adjustment agency during the past year is a member of the county agricultural conservation association and may vote in the local elections.
