NOTICE OF LAND SA L E REPORT ON M ILK CONTROL BY OSC MEN IS PUBLISHED The success of economic control of the milk industry must be measured in terms of the improvement in the quality of milk and the extent to which the efficiency of the industry has increased, according to conclus ions reached by experiment station economists a t Oregon State college, who have been conducting county-by county surveys on the operation of the Oregon milk control law A sum mary of their findings has ju st been published in the form of station bul letin No. 37 5, entitled “Some Econ omic Implications of Milk Control in Oregon.” The report makes no attem pt to de cide for or against the milk control law as regards its various activities in this state. It does analyze the ef fects of the law in the counties and points out the relationship of various board actions to subsequent develop ments in the fluid milk industry PAGE SEVEN THE HERMISTON HERALD. HERMISTON. OREGON. THURSDAY, SEPT 26, 1940. 1941 Ford Super DeLuxe Fordor sedan. Like the rest of the new Ford line, It le larger, easier riding, and more beautiful outside and In. The authors, Dr. D. B. DeLoach and William A. West, also point out that success or failure of the milk control board should not be measured in terms of its individual actions, but rather in terms of progress made to ward bringing the desired economic stability to the industry, and toward accomplishment of the other social objectives of the act. BETTER PROSPECT APPROACHING FOR A N IM A L PRODUCTS vail through much or all of the 1940- 11 marketing year. Supplies of eggs and of pork are not expected to be as large during the year ahead as during the past mar keting season, but the volume of dai ry products, beef and lamb is ex pected to hold up around that of the past year. Cattle numbers, both dai ry and beef, are increasing enough to make the outlook ahead less fav orable for dairy products and beef. Future price trends, while indefinite owing to war, are likely to be ad verse if the cattle cycle operates as in the past. The report contains sections on feeds and costs, demand, and several tables of data of value to producers in planning their production and marketing operations. A copy may be had free from county agents or dir ect from the college.
