The proceeds from the sale and lunch am ounted to $98.50. The D am ascus g range w tll hold its an n u a l b azaar and sale at the Boring I. O. O. F. hall on 'D ecem ber 11. A m usical and literary p rogram will precede the sale and lunch w ill be served. Ed. T he ca r he hit w as p arked nearly in the cen ter of the road w ithout lights, and it was r e ported th a t th e occupants had im bibed a little too m uch moonshine. The Boring Com m unity club met with th e school board and a rra n g e m en ts w ere m ade w here the dis tric t ag reed to m eet th e club half way, w ith funds to floor the play- shed. On F riday and S atu rd ay a num ber of the p atro n s of the school gathered at th e playshed and did th e w ork. T he ladies served dinner for the w orkers both days. T he heavy wind on W ednesday evening did some dam age around Boring. It took the roof of Wm. M orand’s cow sta b le and blew a chicken house down for Mrs. H. B. N ew O il Drill COLUMBIA HEIGHTS T he silver thaw of a week ago did considerable dam age in th is com m unity. The telephone and electric light poles fell in m any places and the men a re still busy along th e lines. T he telephone ex change at Corbett is not in w ork- • ing operation yet. and it may tak e several days before the lines are repaired. Ou account of so much rain recently a good m any ra n c h ers still have th eir potatoes in th e ground. The late crop of potatoes is very satisfacto ry everyw here. The carn iv al a t th e Colum bian high school w as a g reat success, both socially and financially, th e P aren t-T ea ch e r association c le a r ing $100 for its tre a su ry . It proved to be one of th e finest u n d ertak in g s of th is so rt ever put on at Corbett. T he various booths w ere cleverly a rran g e d and each one w as a d raw ing card for itself and everyone en joyed th e stu n ts an d th e com ical costum es. W orkmen have been busy for th e past two weeks alterin g a dryer tunnel at the Columbia brickyard and in stallin g a new Boss drying system This new system , v’hich has been proven a success at other places, is supposed to speed up th e process of drying a kiln of brick or tile from 48 hours to 10 hours. If it proves satisfacto ry th e system will be em ployed throughout th e w hole dryer.
