It was o n ly a few years ago th a t the Doctors D ick de m onstrate), th e ge rm , strepto coccus s c a rla tin a , to lie the cause o f s c a rle t fe ve r. T hey showed th a t t ills germ secreted a poison, o r to x in , and th a t th is to x in c o u ld lie used not o n ly to in d ic a te p e r sons su sce p tib le to th is disease, b u t could also lie em p lo yed to im m u nize the m ag ninst it.
