Goodwin and Mrs. j Goodwin, Miss Good, Miss Gregson, j Miss Webb, Miss Morrison, Miss Hol man, Miss Montague, Mr. Webb and MY. Taylor, all of whom are leaving I the high school for other fields of I labor. Only four of the old faculty re main us a nucleus for a new faculty. The reception had been hastily a r ranged and doubtless many friends of the retirin g teachers were unaw are of the event. However, a good attendance was present and splendid program of speeches, reading and mush was given. Mayor Karl A. Miller presided. He stated the object of the meeting and called on Judge Stapleton to speak for the school hoard. He spoke p articu lar ly of the substantial growth and de velopment of the union high school un der the outgoing adm inistration and of pride In the splendid student body which has been built up. W. C. Lawrence of the school board voiced Ills regret th at the board is ham pered by lack of adequate funds and he gave beautiful trib u te to the character of Mrs. Goodwin. Mr. Good win ri'sponded for him self and wife and for the teachers. Solos were sung by Miss M artha Hagborg, C. E. R usher and H. W. Strong. Miss Frieda Bratzel gave a piano solo and Mrs. D. M. Donaugh gave a reading. Punch and wafers were served by a com mittee of girls. Ac- j cording to the new plan, five members will constitute the new school board and they are to be elected at the reg u lar meeting In June. Candidates will he required to file th eir petitions pre vious to the meeting. The election will be on all candidates nt large, how ever. only one member will be allowed In any one school district. Of the five elected, the one receiving th highest num ber of votes will hold office for five years, the one receiving the next highest num ber will serve for four years and so on. One member will then be elected each succeeding year.
