Obituaries John Kenneth Gochnauer John Kenneth Goch- nauer, 79, formerly of Hep- pner, passed away in Cor- vallis, MT on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. At his request, no memorial service will be held. John was born in Ama- rillo, TX on December 19, 1936 to William and Mary Murphree Gochnauer. He was the youngest of their seven living children. Lady golfers came from all parts of Oregon and Washington to compete and enjoy the beautifully- groomed golf course. The gross champion of the field was Nancy Propheter and the co-net champions of the ield were Missy Cutsforth and Cindi Doherty. The team of Heather Villanueva Christian Life Center volunteers will serve lunch on Wednesday, June 22, at St. Patrick’s Senior Center. Dougherty named to ASU dean’s list Heppner graduate Ryan Dougherty has been named to the dean’s list of the Arizona State University School of Nutrition and Health Promotion for spring semester 2016, the university announced recently. Dougherty is the daughter of Cliff and Dawna Dough- erty of Heppner and just completed her sophomore year at ASU enrolled in the Speech and Language Science Program to become a speech and language pathologist. John was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, his irst wife and their son. He is survived by his second wife, three children, seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The annual Jo Pettyjohn Memorial Golf Tournament took place this past weekend at Wil- low Creek Country Club. The tournament is held the second weekend in June, and all interested lady golfers are encouraged to participate in 2017. The planning commit- tee for this year was Cin- di Doherty, Sandi Hanna and Dana Reid, and Gary Propheter. Sarah Rucker had low net, Shirley Martin had the least putts and Betty Burns had the long drive. For Flight C, Sue Ed- son had low gross, Jackie Allstott took low net, Mary Riggs had least putts and Kris Lindner had the long drive. Nancy Propheter had a chip-in and a birdie on #6. The longest putt went to Jackie Alstott at 10 feet, 9 inches. In other events, June 21 will be the ladies invita- tional at WCCC. Goling will begin at 9 a.m. Putting contests will run through- out the day, and beverages and snacks will be avail- able on the course. The $60 fee includes golf, lunch and beverages.
