Foundation Boardman Quilt Show set for Oct. 9 & 10 sees another good turnout Golden foliage on the poplar trees next to I-84 signals arrival of the 11 th an- nual Boardman Quilt Show. This annual sharing of quilts and information will take place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10, at the Boardman Senior Center, 100 Tatone Street, (next to Boardman City Hall), Boardman. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Admission is $3. Activities will include displays of heritage and contemporary quilts, wall hangings and quilted items. The Country Store will have new and vintage items for browsing, and regional fabric vendors will have exciting fabrics and tools for sale. There will be door prizes, and everyone can vote for the People’s Choice Award. Lunch and pie will be available. The quilt raffle drawing will take place at 3 p.m.; winner need not be present. Fea- tured quilter Marge Shankle will be sharing tips for pro- ducing her prize-winning quilts. Shankle, a long-time Boardman quilter, has a his- tory of assisting beginning quilters. A special treat this year is an exhibit of Pyrotechnic design quilts/wall hangings. A pyrotechnic quilt is an original quilt designed to feature fireworks displays. Quilters who are members of the Pyrotechnics Guild International (PGI) create an item for an art exhibit at the annual PGI meeting. The art exhibit is a side activity to nightly fireworks displays. MCSO responded, but was unable to locate the subject. -MCSO received report from a woman in Irrigon who said that her son’s fa- ther refuses to return him. MCSO advised that it was a civil matter and she would need to contact a lawyer. -MCSO received report of a lot of water coming out of a bathroom window at the Baltimore Apart- ments in Heppner. MCSO responded. -MCSO received report of an abandoned vehicle on Ullman Blvd., Boardman. Boardman Police Depart- ment made contact and determined the subject was fishing. -MCSO received re- port of a controlled burn at the Morrow County Fair- grounds in Heppner. -MCSO received report of juveniles going onto posted private property on Pioneer Drive in Heppner ripping the signs off. The caller requested deputy contact. -MCSO received report of a dark color SUV driving on a construction site at Michael’s Power. MCSO responded, but was unable to locate anything. -MCSO received report of a possible burglary on Third St. in Irrigon. The caller said a male pulled a gun on her father and left in a vehicle. MCSO and BPD responded. -MCSO received re- quest from a woman for a welfare check on her two sons. She said she dropped them off yesterday and their father had gone hunting and left them without food in the house. -Ione Fire Department received report of a fire at the JVB Dairy. Ione Fire Department responded. August 18: -Morrow County Sheriff ’s Office received report from an Irrigon woman that her neighbor’s dog was outside in the sprinkler, wet and cold. MCSO responded and checked on the dog and de- termined the complaint was unfounded. -Boardman Fire De- partment received report of a small fire near the railroad tracks on the north side of I-84, Boardman. She was lodged at the Umatilla County Jail. -Irrigon Ambulance received report that a 74-year-old female had fallen. Irrigon Ambulance responded, but the patient refused transport. -Morrow County Sher- iff’s Office received report from a Boardman woman that her mail was stolen, including birthday cards and presents that had been delivered and stolen the day before. She had called the post office and was advised there should have been two boxes there, two parcels and some mail, but there was nothing. -MCSO Deputy ad- vised he was flagged down for a cattle truck reported to have hit a stop sign at the convenience store in Lexington. -MCSO received re- quest from a juvenile for deputy contact concerning his options about going to live with his father. A deputy contacted him and advised that it was a civil issue. -MCSO received report from a deputy that a cream and brown Ford econo-van with two males and two children left the Morrow County OHV Park on For- est Service Rd. 21, Heppner without paying for their overnight stay. The incident was under investigation. -MCSO received report of a marijuana pipe found by a garbage can at the Ir- rigon Skate Park. -MCSO received report from a woman at the St. Patrick’s Senior Center in Heppner that her stickers were stolen from her license plate.
