SIX - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, September 16, 2015 Ione Education Foundation’s 13 th annual Lady Cards launch into volleyball dinner and auction set for Sept. 26 season The annual dinner and auction to benefit the Ione Education Foundation will take place Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Legion Hall in Ione. The evening will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. The prime rib and cedar plank salmon dinner will be served at 7 p.m., followed by the auction. Dinner tick- ets are available at Bank of Eastern Oregon in Ione or at the door. Prices are $25 for adults and $10 for ages 7-12; children six and under are free. The dinner ticket includes two drinks. The auction will feature a variety of fun and practi- cal items. There will also be raffle items and grab bags with set prices for children Dustin Padberg will return as auctioneer at this year’s Ione and adults. All proceeds from the event benefit students at the Ione Community School. Din- ner sponsors include the Bank of Eastern Oregon, Devin Oil, ICABO, Mid- Columbia Producers, Mor- row County Grain Growers and Wheatland Insurance. Marvin Padberg and his team work hard to catch and donate fresh salmon. Event organizers say no one will go away hungry. TransCanada shows appreciation to Ione community The company’s GTN pipeline has been a neighbor for more than 50 years TransCanada, the en- ergy company that owns the Gas Transmission North- west pipeline, showed its appreciation to the peo- ple of Ione at the Back to School barbecue on Thurs- day, Sept. 10. “We were pleased to be part of the Ione barbecue,” says David White, Trans- Canada’s business develop- ment director for the West Coast. “We’ve been neigh- bors a long, long time, and this is just one small way of saying how much we have appreciated our relationship over the years. We have always done our best to be a safe and efficient operator of this natural gas pipeline, and we intend to be a sup- portive neighbor for years to come.” As part of the annual event, which drew a crowd of more than 250, repre- sentatives from GTN and Michels Corp. presented ceremonial checks to rep- resent contributions made to fund scholarships to the Ione school and to help the Ione Rural Fire Protection District purchase a much- needed brush rig. GTN has operated natu- ral gas transmission lines in Morrow County since 1961. It was joined in check pre- sentations by Michels Corp. the general contractor on the 24-mile Carty Lateral Pipeline that will deliver natural gas to a Portland General Electric generating facility. That pipeline is cur- rently nearing completion. Mayor Linda LaRue introduced White and Ver- lyn Bailly, TransCanada community relations spe- cialist, along with Michels representatives Mark Zogg and Anthony Fetters. Ione girls won their first three sets in each non-league game, securing shutout wins over the other two teams. Friday, Sept. 11, the girls went head-to-head with Echo, with both the varsity and JV teams tak- ing those games, the varsity team by a score of 3-2. Saturday, the Lady Cards went on the road to a tournament in Condon, where the varsity team defeated Condon-Wheeler 2-0 before losing their next three games to Union, Pilot Rock and Heppner. The girls, with a 4-3 overall record for the season, played their first league game Tuesday ver- sus Mitchell/Spray. They battle Arlington in another league game Thursday before turning their attention to Riverside for a non-league contest next Tuesday. Justice Court Report Morrow County Justice of the Peace Ann Spicer has released the following Justice Court report: -Thai Bao Tranbui, 28, of Garland, TX was found guilty by default (Failure to Appear) of Violating the Basic Rule 78/55 and was fined $260. -Dennis Ferdinand Holbrook, 72, of Boardman was found guilty by default of No Resident Angling License – No Culpable Mental State and was fined $112.
