Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, April 15, 2015 Heppner track & field jumps ahead in rankings Mustang girls dominate golf scene The Heppner Mustangs girls’ golf team continued its dominance of the lo- cal golf scene by winning two more tournaments. Last Monday the girls won the Wildhorse Big School Invitational and on Fri- day they placed first at the Nixyaawii tournament held at Wildhorse. The Mustang boys also participated at the Nixyaawii tournament and finished in second place. In winning the Wild- horse Invitational the girls’ team shot a team best 364. They outpaced Pendleton (368), La Grande (373), Hermiston (379), The Dalles (413) and Baker (479) to get the win. It was quite an accomplishment to defeat these 5A and 4A teams. Sophie Grant had another strong day and finished with an 87. Aman- da Rea was next with a 93 and Maddie Lindsay shot a 99. Emily Rea posted a 102 - FIVE on the day. On Friday the girls’ team won the Nixyaawii tournament that was also held at Wildhorse. Maddie Lindsay took home medal- ist honors for the tourna- ment as she shot a good score of 90. Logan Grieb was the medalist on the boys’ side of things as he shot a tour- nament best 79 to get the win. Ross Cutsforth was next with an 89 and Brian Rill followed at 98. John Propheter shot a 99 and Tommy Bredfield finished with a 104. The boys’ team shot a 365 to finish second at the tournament.
