The boys’ team shot a 357 to beat teams from Goldendale, WA (3 6 6 ), E n te rp rise The Mustang baseball team came out ahead last week, sending the visiting Sherman County Huskies home empty-handed after a 4-0 shutout on Tuesday, and then turning around and splitting a double header with the lrrigon Knights, 5-2 and 0-11, on Saturday During Tuesday’s game against Sherman County, Mustang Andrew Hatfield held the Huskies to only two hits, striking out seven and walking one in a full seven innings. Hatfield’s double also contributed to the Mustangs’ seven hits, with Weston Putman also adding a double. F ro m t h e r e , th e Heppner/Ione team faced the Knights in a double- header on lrrigon’s turf. In the first game, the Mustangs broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the seventh. Pitchers JC Putman and Patrick Collins combined to give up only three hits, while Weston Putman contributed at the plate with an RBI of2-for- 3 to give Heppner the 5-2 win. In the second game of the day, the Mustangs forced extra innings by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Knights came back strong in the eighth, scoring four runs and ending the game 9-11 for lrrigon. Kevin Murray led the Mustangs at the plate, going 3-for-4. WELCOME TO BIO RIVER 0011 COURSE Mustang softball disappointed in double-header The Mustang softball team met disappointment during its double-header v e r s u s P ilo t R o c k / Nixyaawii last Friday. The Heppner/Ione girls lost to Union (444), Pendleton JV (463), Cove (467) and Stanfield/Echo (518). Blake Greenup shot a 91 in tough conditions to finish second overall in the girls’ division. Finishing in seventh place was Macy Gibbs with a 100. Maddie Lindsay tied for eighth with her round of 103 and Emily Rea shot a 110 to finish in a tie for 11th. Amanda Rea and Natalie Grigg also made the trip and played well for the day. Winning first place in The tournament will feature special event prizes on every hole, as well as first- through third-place gross and net prizes. The entry fee of $40 per person includes a barbecue lunch. The c o mmu n i t y is invited to take part in a ham and lamb feast, watch as newly elected FFA officers are initiated and celebrate the accomplishments of the chapter's members. In addition, the chapter is raffling off two halves of a hog for $5 a ticket or five tickets for $20. The hog was donated by Christy Wizner and the harvest, cut and wrap was donated by Eastern Oregon Mobile Slaughter. The drawing will be on June 14 during Celebrate Heppner.
