Morrow County Commissioner Ken Grieb congratulated the girls on their win on behalf of the M orrow C ounty C ourt. I spent a little Don Russell over a year after graduating college in Portland w orking for Georgia Pacific. I then spent two years in Salem working for a CPA firm. I moved back to Boardman in July o f 1982 and have lived here since. E d u c a t i o n a l background? I’m a 1975 graduate of Riverside High S c h o o l, B o a rd m a n . In 1979 1 earned my Bachelor o f S cience degree from O regon State U niversity in business administration accounting with a m inor in general science. T he “ E x c e lle n c e in Victim Services A w ard” w as given to E bert in a cerem ony in Portland by the O regon D epartm ent o f Justice Crime Victims’ S e rv ic e s D iv isio n and A tto rn e y G eneral E llen Rosenblum. In h e r n o m in a tio n letter, Deona Siex, Victims A ssistance D irector with the Morrow County District A tto rn ey ’s office, stated that Mickie goes above and beyond to help victims. “ She is a life saver,” stated Siex. D o m e stic V io len c e Services Director Kathryn C haney said, “ D om estic Violence Services provides 24-hour services for victims o f dom estic and sexual violence and stalking. “ We are proud o f the excellent work Ms. Ebert provides as advocate with our agency. M ickie has se rv e d as a d v o c ate for Domestic Violence Services for nine years. -RUSSELUPAGE SEVEN ‘Talking rocks’ to tell Heppner’s story lone , Heppner Easter -See COMMISSIONER- -GRIEB/PAGE SEVEN Joanne Burleson, with the H e p p n e r G a rd e n C lub, organized the placement of a large boulder on the comer o f Main and Church streets with a plaque honoring the c ity ’s nam esake, Henry Heppner. The unique blue basalt from their quarry was used for the construction o f the M orrow C ou n ty Courthouse in 1902/1903. In the 1930s, the Civilian Conservation Corps unit in Heppner harvested the rock for use in local projects. The O sm in s have a lso offered to provide blue basalt, w herever needed, for use in the new county building project. The Farm Foundation, egg hunts planned lo n e a n d H e p p n e r are both continuing their traditions o f annual Easter egg hunts for the children on Saturday, April 19. lo n e 's annual Easter egg h u n t w ill be held Saturday, April 19, at 10 a.m. in the lone City Park.
