A memorial graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery with a celebration of life to be announced at a later date. She was bom February 21, 1030 at Heppner. the daughter of Loren and Celia Mahon Matteson. Dorothy often spoke o f g row ing up on the homestead and attending the one-room schoolhouse. which still stands and is named Matteson School House. She then attended Heppner High School. Though she could be difficult at tim es, even down-right ornery, anyone needing a place to stay or a hot meal found one at the Scott residence. She loved her family, horses, dogs and every other animal she was persuaded to make her own. Dorothy was preceded in death by: her husband. Bill Scott; sister, Kathleen Mae Lynch; and brother, Buddy. She is survived by; her daughters, Jana Lee Scott, and Jill Struckmeier and husband Earl; five g r a n d c h i l d r e n , N ic i Apperson, Kim Trent, and Brody, Brian and Bryce Struckmeier; and 14 great grandchildren. Sweeney Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. he was an active racer in the O regon M otorcycle R a c in g A s s o c i a ti o n , com peting in Hare and Hound. Enduro and Cross Country Desert Racing, finishing third in the State in the Desert Racing Series in 1981. In Baker he was also an avid snowmobiler and recreational skier. When he was just out of high school he even tried his hand at rodeo, entering team roping and calf events throughout E astern O regon. A fter their move to Hermiston, Ray was very active as a motorcycle touring rider traveling through most of the Western U.S. R ay w a s a lw a y s service-oriented, serving in the Jaycees, Baker Lions Club and as a board member o f th e B ak er C o u n ty Cham ber o f Commerce. After moving to Hermiston he served as President of the Greater Area Hermiston Cham ber o f Commerce, President of the Hermiston Rotary Club and President of the Desert Arts Council, as well as being involved in other community events and activities. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Gladys Jones. He is survived by: his wife o f 37 years, Linda L. Jones; a brother, Gary W. Jones and wife Doris of Heppner; sister Sandra M. Blake of Kennewick, WA; sister-in-law Annette Craner and husband Greg Swaim o f Newberg, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins. S he e s p e c i a ll y enjoyed her visit to the Queen Mother's castle in Scotland. After returning, Tanya would shine as she shared what they had seen on their trip. Tanya used her nursing degree to serve others in hospitals, nursing homes, and at hom e-health and hospice. While working for Home Health and Hospice of South Eastern Washington, she received their award for excellence. She worked for, and thoroughly enjoyed, Dr. G am son in M ount Vernon at N orth West Family Physicians before she retired in 2012. T anya is s u rv iv e d by: her husband, Robert H. Tiegs; children and grandchildren Robert, Julie, Mya and Kylie Tiegs, and Steven and Michelle Tiegs; and siblings David Tucker, Teresa King and Tammie Williams. A celebration of Faye's life will be held Thursday. April 17, at 1 p.m. at First C hristian Church, 685 Marion Street NE, Salem. She was born near Heppner on May 15, 1915, to Omer C. and Elizabeth Dickey Luttrell. She was the fifth of six daughters. Her early childhood was spent in Joseph, G rass Valley and Moro, OR. In 1929 the fam ily m oved to L e x in g to n , where she went to school and graduated in 1934. It was there that she met V ern o n E. M u n k e rs . They were married June 2, 1934 and they spent almost 60 years together. They lived in Heppner for six years, during which time a daughter was bom.
