Pi o n e e r Me mo r i a l Hospi t al Fo u nda t i on received $1,100, while the ISD received $1,700. United Way of Umatilla and Morrow Counties in Pendleton also topped the list of local recipients with $12,000 given to help fund local health and human service programs. P G E ’s a n n u a l Employee Giving Ca mp a i g n encour a ges employees and retirees to support their favorite causes by providing a 50-percent company match for each dollar they pledge. The school-level bee, at which students answered oral geography questions, was the first round in the 26,h annual National Geographic Bee sponsored by the National Geographic Society. The school w inners will now take a written test; up to 100 of the top scorers will compete in the state bee on April 4. The National Geographic Society will provide a trip to Washington, D.C. for state champions and teacher-escorts to the bee national championship May 19-21. The first- place national winner will receive a $50,000 college scholarship, a li fetime membership in the society, and a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
