In other business the council was told that for some reason the RV park in town across from the motel had never been permitted, and the planning commis sion issued that permit at its last meeting. There was no problem with the facility and it was apparently just an oversight. Cutsforth said the city attorney is working on changes to the city side walk ordinance that would exempt stairways. Under the current city ordinance property owners are respon sible for the maintenance of sidewalks in front of their property. The responsibil ity would also apply to the new stairs going in as part of the Barratt Blvd and Water Street projects, and Cutsforth said it would not be fair to saddle property owners with the high li ability of stairways, so the city is looking at exempting stairs from the sidewalk or dinance, and having the city accept that responsibility.
