The goal of the art show is to inspire art appreciation, and an interest in art history and different art styles. Gerry was a man with friends. Benefit dinner planned Friends of Christy Cor rea will be hosting a benefit dinner and auction on Au gust 9 at the Heppner Elks Lodge. Correa was recently diagnosed with cancer and will begin treatment later this month. Social hour will be gin at 5 p.m. with dinner served at 6 p.m. The dinner will include tri-tip, cheesy potatoes, green beans, roll and dessert. Cost is $20 for ages 11 and up and $12 for ages 10 and under. The auction will follow at 8 p.m. and includes items such as a Ruger Blackhawk 41 mag. handgun, custom brush guard, load of gravel, cow elk hunting trip with lodging, one-day guided sturgeon fishing trip, golf items, and tanning/cut/color package, to name a few. All proceeds from the event will be given to Cor rea for costs involving her treatment. Donations can also be made at the Bank of Eastern Oregon, where an account has been set up for her. Darcie is a 2011 graduate of Hermiston High School. She is currently attending college at Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg, ID. Eric is a 2011 graduate of Heppner High School. He is currently employed at Blue Mountain Manufacturing in Heppner. The couple plans to be married August 25, 2012 in a private ceremony in Kennewick, WA. They plan to reside in Rexburg, ID while they pursue their educations. Local students make EOU dean’s list Four local students were among more than 500 students named to Eastern Oregon University’s dean’s list for the 2012 spring term. Local students to re ceive the honor were Kelsie Fox, Eric Jepsen and Sheri- lyn Peck, all of Heppner, and Marco Juarez of lone. Kelli Jones o f Boardman was also named to the list. To qualify, students must achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a mini mum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the duration of the term. WCCC men’s championship Greg Grant won the men’s club championship in the two-day Willow Creek Country Club Men’s Club C ham pionship T ourna ment played on July 21-22. Grant’s scores were 61 and 63 for a two-day total of 124.
