Boys Golf: Hep- pner/Ione took first in class3 A/2A/1A with a GPA of 3.92. Boys Tennis: Hep- pner/lone took 10th in class 4A/3A/2A/1A with a GPA of 3.58. B oys Track & Field: Heppner took fifth in class 2A with a GPA of 3.33. lone tied for first in class 1A with a GPA of 3.68. GirlsTrack& Field: lone took fifth in class 1A with a GPA of 3.75. Speech: lone took first in class 1A with a GPA of 3.86. row County had to travel to Hermiston or Pendleton to take part in probation pro grams. According to Sheriff Matlack, that opened the program to failure. “B ecause som e of these people could not drive, they said they were not able to complete their programs,” stated Matlack. “Now they can walk to the treatment program at Community Counseling Solutions.” Matlack also stated that the funding for the parole and probations pro- gram now comes straight to The Morrow Coun ty program started with 49 people and now averages around 90. Bowles said the numbers keep the depart ment busy, but he is excited about the chance to help people right here instead of making them travel to meet probation requirements. “You get a lot bet ter chance to work with people and hold them ac countable,” said Bowles. “Our main goal is to help them comply with their pro bation and create positive change in their lives.” 6,h Annual Youth Fishing Derby will take place Sat urday, May 21 at Cutsforth Park from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. The fishing derby is a free event for children up to age 14. Fishers will be divided into three age groups, with prizes for each group. Cutsforth Park is located at 58430 Willow Creek Road, about 22 miles south of Heppner on the Blue Mountain Scenic By way. Morrow County Parks partners with the Oregon W ildlife (ODFW ), Elks Lodge 358, Pettyjohn’s Farm and Building Supply, Community Bank, Bank of Eastern Oregon and many other volunteers to help provide a fun day of fish ing for kids, create lastirtg memories and encourage their interest in the great outdoors.
