H e pp ner G aze tte-T im es, H eppner, O regon W ednesday, February 9,2011 Heppner FFA members place Meet Heppner’s foreign in district leadership contest exchange students The Blue Mountain FFA District Leadership Contest was held on Febru ary 3. The contest included parliamentary procedure, creed speaking, beginning, sophomore, extemporane ous and advanced pub lic speaking contests. The Heppner FFA Chapter was represented well and had contestants in all but one area. R eceiving second place in Advanced Public Speaking was Devin Rob inson with his speech titled, “The Wolf Story”; Julissa Sanchez received second place in Creed Speaking; Ryan Dougherty placed first in Beginning Public Speak ing with her speech titled, “ Drosophila Suzuki: The Tiny Invader”; and Joslynn Troxell placed second in Beginning Public Speak ing with her speech titled, “The Benefits o f School Gardens.” These speakers, as well as the Job Interview Contest winners from No vember, will be competing at the sectionals contest in LaGrande at EOU on Feb ruary 17. - T H R EE S m art H earts F air to be held Feb. 10 Pictured left to right are a some of the foreign exchange stu dents who are attending H eppner High School this year. There will be a slight change in format this year, with the high school students having an opportu nity to meet with health care providers to learn about health care related careers from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The elem en tary fair will begin at 6 p.m., with the raffle drawing to start at 7:30 p.m. All K.-6 students, a along with their parents, are invited to at tend, for a fun-filled, edu- cational evening visiting booths loaded with healthy inform ation and activi ties. Raffle tickets will be given out at no charge for a chance to win some really nice prizes, including some new bicycles.
