The units will be used by stu dents to take AR quizzes without the use of full size computers. These units were donated in memory of Nate Arbogast who passed away earlier this year. Mr. Arbogast was well known for his dedication to brining technology to small town schools and his volunteer work in the community. At birth he weighed six pounds, 6‘/2 ounces, and mea sured 19 'A inches in length. Ari’el Ragner Gray He jo in s a nine year old brother, Joshua Grant. Grandparents are Ivan and Jane Akers of Boardman, Karen and Rick Murray of Redmond, and Richard and Sandy Gray of Albany. He is the great-nephew of Karl and Patty Smith of Boardman. S ch o larsh ip s are available on an annual basis and students who meet the criteria are invited to reap ply in the spring for a total o f three years. A v iew in g was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Fisher F u n eral H om e. F u n eral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Fisher Funeral Home. Inter ment will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens. Richard was born in H eppner to A ley and Josephine (Buschke) Peck. He was raised in the mid valley. R ic h a rd m arrie d Patsy H elen Jackson on October 13, 1956 in Scio. He worked in the p a p e rm ill and p ly w o o d industries for most o f his w o rk in g life , in c lu d in g VanPly and what is now Georgia Pacific in Halsey. R ich ard e n jo y ed fishing, hunting, traveling and in his younger years, car racing. He loved his restored 1942 John Deere tractor. He was a member o f the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Good Sam Ready Roamers travel club and C lear Lake Fish and Game. Richard is survived by: his wife Patsy Peck o f Albany; daughter Sharon Helena Premo o f Newberg; granddaughter Sarah; three great-grandchildren, Anna and tw ins Elizabeth and Jacob; sisters Shirley Mar tin o f Lexington, Patricia Aerni o f Portor, OK and S h erry H illsm an o f A l bany; four stepsisters; five stepbrothers; two nephews; one great-nephew; and one great-great-niece. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Connie Faye Peck. M organ was awarded the Area Recognition Award for the Umatilla area. A s ta te m e n t r e leased from the O CTM said “ M ath is advanced among students by teachers and others who work on the progress in m ath educa tion and work to increase the quality of mathematics education. Oregon Council o f Teachers of Mathematics members are math teachers and classroom teachers that are interested in keeping quality mathematics in Or egon Schools. Troy Morgan is one o f those people. He is leading the parade in our entire region and state with credit for proficiency in the classroom . He has the ability to be organized and motivate/relate to math students o f the high school age.” Molly Smith, vice president o f Oregon C o u n c il o f T each ers o f Mathematics, says, “It is an honor to highlight accom plishments, leadership, and excellent work o f people who promote mathematics across our state. She will double-m ajor at Oregon State University in business management and Spanish. Wightman, another nine-year member, gradu ated from Riverside High School. His exceptional and diverse project work earned him a piece o f this award. He has been very active in swine, foods, clothing and photography. W ightm an plans to enroll in the Or egon State University/PCC Partnership program and major in computer science/ information technology. All three recipients are also M orrow County 4-H Ambassadors. Senior Center Menu M a th e w B a k e r & Ju lie P ro c to r Serving Heppner Lexington A lone With an outstand ing pool o f applicants for the M orrow County 4-H Leaders Council scholar ship this year, there was a three-way tie for this year’s Morrow County 4-H Lead ers C ouncil scholarship. Curtis Harper, Ashley Wolff and Tanner Wightman each w ill rec e iv e $300 upon registration for their sopho more year of college. Harper, a Heppner High School graduate was recognized for his civic leadership and community service. He is a nine-year 4-H member and has par ticipated mostly in swine and dog projects. He plans to attend Western Oregon, U niversity and m ajor in criminal justice.
