W ith no p ra c tic e since the previous Tuesday, fans might have expected a sloppy effort from both team s but the Cards took the court looking sharp, lone jumped out to a 15-12 first quarter advantage w ith several o f the buckets com ing oil'the fast break. Early in the second, the Cardinals ran off an 11-1 run to build up a 13 point lead. River side w asn't about to give in though, cutting the lead to five at the half, 28-23. There was no letup in the third as lone outscored the Pirates 20-9, led by eight points from both Zac Orem and Matt Hams. T he Cards scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to build their biggest lead o f the day, 22 points before hammering home the 64-49 w in. Sizzling hot shoot ing and good defense was the story o f the game for lone. O verall, the C ards shot 54% from the field and equaled that p e rc en ta g e from outside the three point line. The Cards shot over 60% in the first and third quarters. Matt Hams led all scorers with 21 points in cluding three three-pointers. Zac Orem continued to con tribute in a big way with 18 points including three threes o f his ow n. Cory Peterson was also in double figures with 10. lone battled to a 35- 27 rebounding edge led by Clay M orterwith 13 boards. Matt, Hams added $ix and Zac Orem and Alex Fet- terhoff each had five. The Cardinals had 21 assists to just eight for the Pirates led by Clay M orter with five and Cory Peterson w ith four. Cory Peterson also led the team with six steals. Matt Hams had four blocks. Coach Dennis Ste- fani was p leasan tly su r prised by the outing after a week o f missed practices due to snow. “ The team moved the ball well, doing a great job o f keeping the floor spread allowing cut ting lanes to open towards the basket. But most o f all I liked seeing, the start o f us getting the ball inside to the posts, something 1 think w e have struggled with” he said. “Also 1 felt we played a vcry good complete defen sive game. We not only put great pressure on them, but when the shot went up we did a terrific job o f screen ing out and controlling the boards.” The Cardinals will host a snow-delayed game against D ufur on Friday and travel to Stanfield on Saturday. Lady Cards The Lady Cardinals hung close to Riverside in the first half, trailing just 10-11 at the break but an ice cold second half was the story of the game as they lost to the Lady Pirates 44-17. In the first half, both teams looked like they had not practiced in almost a week but Riverside was able to get their offense moving and scoring in the second. Stefanie Archer led the Lady Cards in scoring with seven points. Tiana Camarillo added four. MCSO responded and d eterm in ed that the workers were unaware o f the trespass issues stated by the reporter. The backhoe was removed. -MCSO received a report o f suspicious circum stances. The reporter stated that her house her house had been locked earlier but was currently unlocked. The reporter requested that a deputy check the house. -MCSO received a driving complaint o f people driving at a high rate o f speed. The reporter request ed that a deputy patrol the school area after school. The patrol noted no activity. -MCSO issued a ci tation to Beverly Anne Han son, 20, for driving without a license. -MCSO issued a ci tation to Claudia Galvan, 20, for no operator’s license and failure to carry proof of insurance. -MCSO received a report o f shots fired. The reporter stated that shot gun fire was heard and an intoxi cated male yelling “I’ll kill you.” -BPD issued a cita tion to Gary Lee Hiigel, 56, for violating the speed limit by going 32 miles per hour in a 20 mile per hour school zone. -BPD received a re port o f a male subject seen jum ping a fence into the reporter’s neighbor’s yard. BPD arrested James David Barrasee Jr., 31, for Crimi nal Trespass II. -BPD arrested Alex Luis A hum ada, 23, on a P&P detention warrant. Nov. 19: -M C SO received a report o f a 70 year old male who was pos sibly having a heart attack. The patient was reported to have a history o f cardiac problems. -MCSO received a report o f a 17 year old male that was refusing to leave the reporter’s house. -MCSO received a child abuse report stating that the rep o rter’s grand daughter was being abused by her d au g h ter-in -law ’s boyfriend. MCSO respond ed. -MCSO issued a ci tation to N esto r C orona Banderas, 27, for failure to renew registration. -MCSO received a report o f telephonic harass ment. The reporter stated that subjects were calling and disguising their voices. The reporter also stated that they were having problems with his girlfriend’s ex and they have four boys that hear the recordings and it concerns him. -Boardman Am bu lance received a call re garding a male subject with a high fever and possible overdose on m edication. And officer and an ambu lance responded. The patient refused transport. Nov. 20: -M C SO received a complaint stat ing that renters had moved out o f the reporter’s house and several young people were now using the house for drinking parties. -M C S O re c e iv e d a report o f a 2004 Silver Chevrolet pickup truck that rolled off the western route near Four Corners. There were no injuries and the wreck was non-blocking. -MCSO received a report o f hunters hunting off the side o f the road. The reporter's vehicle was hit by shots. -MCSO received a report of a subject knocking really hard on the reporter’s door. This has been going on for some time and the reporter was scared to open the door. -MCSO received a report o f a missing juvenile. The reporter’s 13 year old daughter never rode the bus or came home from school. -MCSO received a report o f three runaw ays ages 17, 15, and 13. The children had DHS orders to go to their grandm other’s home. -MCSO issued a ci tation to William Lee Hall, 21, for going 80 mph in a 55 mph zone. -MCSO issued a ci tation to E leazar Lom as Torres, 37, for driving un insured and failure to use a seatbelt/child. -MCSO arrested Ca leb Wayne McDaniel, 28, for DU1I. -BPD issued a cita tion to Jonathan W illiam Lamb, 28, for violating the speed limit by going 44 mph in a 30 mph zone. -BPD issued a cita tion to A rturo Francisco Perez Jr., 18, for going 58 mph in a 25 mph zone. -BPD received a re port o f telephonic harass ment. The reporter stated that her daughter answered the phone and som eone began cussing her out. The reporter called the number back and the subject pro ceeded to cuss her out as well. -Irrigon Fire Depart ment received a call from a reporter stating that she thought she saw a fire near the Marina Park. -lone and Heppner Fire Departments received a call from a reporter stating that a controlled burn got away from him. -H e p p n e r A m b u +. tilla County Jail with $6,000 bail. -MCSO cited Kim berly G. Taylor, 24, for driving 94 mph in a 65 mph zone in Boardman -B oardm an Police D epartm ent arrested Ed ward Gale Stephens, 52, on a Umatilla County Circuit Court warrant for Failure to Appear/Criminal M ischief II, FTA/Criminal Trespass I and Harassment. He was lodged at Umatilla County Jail with $30,000 bail. -BPD received re port o f a house in Boardman burgled. -BPD cited M aria de Jesus Flores-M adrigal for driving 49 mph in a 30 mph zone. -BPD arrested San tiago V ictoriano A guilar, 25, for DUII and cited him for Open C ontainer. O f ficers also cited Francisco Govea Pablo, 35, for Open Container. -BPD cited a juve nile male for No Operating License. They also cited Junior Espain Covarrubias, 22, for Failure to Wear Seat- belt. A female was warned for allowing unlawful op eration o f the vehicle and M1P and the vehicle was impounded. -Irrigon Ambulance w as called out for a 32-year- old female assault victim. The am bulance was can celled en route. -H e p p n e r A m b u lance received request for an ambulance fora 78-year- old male with pneumonia symptoms. He was trans ported to Pioneer Memorial Hospital. -Boardman Fire De partment received notice o f an audible ammonia alarm. Nov. 23: -The Uma tilla Police Department ar rested Sheri Paasch, 42, on an Irrigon Justice Court war rant for Failure to Pay Fine/ Contempt o f Court/Criminal Trespass II. She was lodged at Umatilla County Jail with $483 bail. -MCSO/ Boardman Police D epartm ent cited Jacinto Gonzales Rojas, 25, for No Operator’s License. -MCSO received re port from an lone woman that she had accidentally driven off the road on Hwy. 74 near Rhea Creek. There was no injury and a tow had been called. -MCSO received re quest for contact from the G illiam C ounty S h eriff’s Office at the Boardman Po lice Department. Nov. 21: -M C SO received a 911 call for 42 female who was bleeding after popping stitches from an operation. -MCSO arrested Ty ler Mason Bradfield, 23, on a H eppner Justice Court Warrant for failure to pay fine/furnishing alcohol to minors. -BPD arrested Jose De Jesu s M artin ez Cer- vantez, 51, for driving while su spended m isdem eanor and tampering with drug re cords. The subject was also cited for driving uninsured. -BPD issued a cita tion to Michael Dean Pear son, 55, for violating the speed limit by going 45 mph in a 35 mph zone. -BPD took a ju v e nile male into custody for PV/Assault IV. -Irrigon Fire Depart ment received a report o f a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Irrigon Ambulance transported two patients to Good Shepherd Hospital. -H e p p n e r A m b u lance received a report o f an 84 year old female who had fallen and possible had a broken hip. -Boardman Fire De partment received a report of a motor vehicle accident. The subject was driving ahead o f a cattle truck and the cattle truck blew a tire. -Boardman Am bu lance received a call regard ing a 44 year old female that had a possible stroke. The patient was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital. Nov. 22: -The Mor row County Sheriff’s O f fice received report from a landlord in Irrigon that his tenant was mugged in her driveway. Two masked men assaulted her, stole her purse and tied in an unknow n vehicle. -MCSO received re port o f an assault in Irrigon. The subject was identified as a white male with short blonde hair and a black t- shirt. He left in an unidenti fied vehicle. -M C S O re c e iv e d report o f an audible bur glary alarm from an Irrigon residence. One subject was detained until it was deter mined that he had permis sion to be there. -M C S O a rre s te d John Paul Surber, 40, on an Irrigon Justice Court war rant for Failure to Appear.
