Obituaries Avery Leon Tay lor Avery Leon Taylor was bom August 12, 1921 in Leedey, OK to Elias and M innie H art Taylor. He died on Saturday, August 25,2007, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermis- ton at the age of 86. A longtime resident o f lrrigon, he moved to the Heppner area in 1948 and later moved to the lrrigon area in the 1970’s. He was raised in Leedey, OK. He graduated from Liberty Cen ter High School. He served in the Army Air Corp. during the World War 11 in England and France. He m a rrie d C lea Stewart November 23, 1946 and had one daughter, Cleo- la. They later divorced. He m arried Johanne W ilson January 14, 1952 and had three children: C h ristie, Peggy and Avery Jr. They were married for 16 years and later divorced. He mar ried Delpha Gilpin January 25, 1970 and gained three stepchildren: Harry, Lucinda and R ichard. They were married 37 years. Throughout his life he worked managing a gas station, doing farming, car pentry w ork, w orked for the Heppner Stub Mill, and the Union Pacific Railroad in Hermiston. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, jigsaw puzzles, farming and taking care o f his livestock. . He is survived by: his wife Delpha o f lrrigon; daughter Christie and hus band Ted Sherrow o f Herm iston, daughter Peggy Lau- ritsen o f Heppner, son Avery Taylor Jr. o f Waikaloa, HI, stepdaughter Lucinda and husband Earl S hibles o f Milwaukie, stepson Harry Gilpin o f Cathlamet; broth ers Buel Taylor o f Herm iston, W illiam Dale Tay lor o f Amette, OK, Buddy Taylor o f Lexington, CK; sisters Wanda Hamilton o f Weatherford, OK, Dorthy Thornton o f Grants, NM; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
