Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, August 24,2005 - FIVE Pre-trial conference continued in Sheep Rock auto tour offered Sandi Day case A John Day Fossil U n it’s T hom as C ondon The p re -tria l conference for Sandi Day, charged with embezzlement, has been postponed and reset for Thursday, Sept. 8, said Morrow County District Attorney David Allen. The postponement came after a doctor who will be testifying as to Day’s capability to be incarcerated was unable to attend on the previous date. A rrangem ents have been m ade for the d o c to r to appear by phone at the Sept. 8 conference. The case has been set with open sentencing, in which the judge will decide • whether jail time should be included in the sentencing, but he needs to know the parameters of the medical con d itio n before he can make a judgment, said Allen. According to Allen, there are possible medical conditions that may make in c arce ra tio n for Day difficult if she were to be sen ten ced to ja il tim e. Discussions have been held to determine what type of medical contingencies can be m ade at the ja il (i.e. availability of access to the infirmary.) Train Fair to be held in John Day The Canyon Mt. N- gineers Model Railroad Club o f C anyon C ity w ill be holding their Great Eastern Oregon Train Fair 2005, Sept. 3 at the Grant County F airg ro u n d s, 409 NW Bridge St., in John Day. The show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attractions include a model railroad swap meet, o p eratin g lay o u ts, d oor p rizes, c lin ic s, video p re se n ta tio n s and m uch more. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children 6- 12. Parking is free. Tables are available for anyone who has trains to sell. The price is $ 15 for the first table and $12 for additional tables F am ilies and any people interested in model trains are encouraged to attend this one-day show, the only model railroad show of its type in Eastern Oregon. She weighed 7 pounds 1 ounce and was 19 1/2 inches long. She joins big sister, Sydni, 2, at home. Her grandparents are Hank and Kathi Pointer of lone. Beds National Monument park ranger will lead a fossil beds auto tour on Saturday, Aug. 27. This two-hour tour will travel along some of the back roads of the national monument and feature the geologic landscape and fossil history of the area.
