Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, August 24,2005 - FIVE
Pre-trial conference continued in Sheep Rock auto tour offered
Sandi Day case
A John Day Fossil U n it’s T hom as C ondon
The
p re -tria l
conference for Sandi Day,
charged with embezzlement,
has been postponed and
reset for Thursday, Sept. 8,
said Morrow County District
Attorney David Allen. The
postponement came after a
doctor who will be testifying
as to Day’s capability to be
incarcerated was unable to
attend on the previous date.
A rrangem ents have been
m ade for the d o c to r to
appear by phone at the Sept.
8 conference.
The case has been
set with open sentencing, in
which the judge will decide
•
whether jail time should be
included in the sentencing,
but he needs to know the
parameters of the medical
con d itio n before he can
make a judgment, said Allen.
According to Allen,
there are possible medical
conditions that may make
in c arce ra tio n for Day
difficult if she were to be
sen ten ced to ja il tim e.
Discussions have been held
to determine what type of
medical contingencies can be
m ade at the ja il (i.e.
availability of access to the
infirmary.)
