Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, April 27, 2005 - SEVEN Benefit dinner to be held for Coil Amy, Eric and Rebecca Jeps- family An elegant evening o f fine dining and music for the benefit o f the Darcy Coil family is planned for Friday, May 6 at the Heppner Elks Club The newly form ed Diva Club o f South Morrow County is planning the event as a M other’s Day weekend night out This group o f local women wanted to do some thing for a fellow “girlfriend” and mother who is battling serious health problem s Based on the generosity of the Heppner High School Junior Class and their dona tion o f the 2005 Prom French Theme decorations, a night with a European flair has been planned. “The op portunity to use the prom decorations for a unique them ed event becam e a spring board for this evening out,” said Marianne Smith, event chairperson An elegant Italian dinner will be offered down stairs with two seating avail able so you can choose the best time for you, with a 5:30 p m. option or a 7:30 p m option, in addition to a desert only option The menu in cludes Tuscan style pork, Penne pasta with a Putenes- ca sauce, Italian style vege tables, tossed mixed green salad and garlic bread After dinner, guests will move up stairs where dessert will be served and guests can enjoy musical entertainment. Local musicians will play a variety o f music including vocals, violin, piano, flute, oboe and harp. The current list of per formers includes: Myma and Kristen VanCleave, Laura and Brendan M cElligott, Alex and Julianne Carlson, en, Cameron Anderson, Sa rah Stillman, Brynna Rust, Wendy Appleton, Joe Lind say, Karen Kenny Bartlett and Nick Berretta Ticket options in clude Dinner: $25 (adults) and $15 for children 12 and under for either o f the two seatings. Those wanting to come for dessert/music only can purchase dessert tickets for $ 10 and join dessert and entertainment at 7 p.m The Organizers ex plained the “ semi-formal- ness” o f the event includes extensive decorations and a sit down meal creating an exciting European theme Come enjoy everything the evening has to offer You are encouraged to come as you are and wear whatever you may feel comfortable in Ev eryone is welcome “ We are creating a unique evening with a fun atmosphere giving people an opportunity for a special night out and to help the Coil Family,” said Smith. “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity o f businesses and individuals and are very excited about the event.” She also urges women to become part o f the Diva group “It’s a wonderful way to meet new people and do something creative and fun w here every o n e is w el come,” added Smith Tickets may be pur chased at M urray’s Drug, Bank o f Eastern Oregon- Heppner and at Wheatland Insurance in lone for ad vance tickets. Students in the Hep pner Preschool 4-year-old class participated last week in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Hop-A-Thon Children in partici pating schools raise money for MDA by collecting spon sorships and donations for the number o f hops they complete in a two-minute period This year’s theme is “Everybody’s Different, No body’s Perfect.” The pro gram is designed to teach children about neuromuscu lar disease, as well as help them understand everybody has both talents and limita tions. C oby D ougherty, who had 280 hops, p er formed the most hops for the day.
