Friday teen dance features Dan Burns The annual Lads and L assies St. P a tric k ’s Committee dance for teens will be held on Friday, March 18 from 8-11:30 p.m. at H ep p n er High School cafeteria A ttendees will dance to the music o f Dan DEQ issues transfer station permit for North Morrow County facility The O regon D ep artm en t of E n v iro n m en tal Q uality (DEQ or Department) has issued a new solid waste permit, effective March 1, 2005, to Morrow County The permit is for a transfer station that will be located near the intersection o f Hwy 730 and Interstate 84 on Port o f M orrow and State o f Oregon property currently being used as a gravel storage area The transfer station will serv e residents of the City o f Boardman, City o f Irrigon and other rural areas o f N orth M orrow County Morrow County will now be able to provide a nearby solid waste disposal serv ice for resid en tial customers and commercial businesses in the Boardman and Irrigon areas. Curbside solid waste collection and recycling drop-off depots are currently provided in the area by Sanitary Disposal o f Hermiston The nearest solid waste disposal service for self-haulers, how ever, is located 15 miles south o f the new transfer station at the Finley Buttes Landfill or 20 miles east o f the new transfer statio n at the Sanitary Disposal transfer station in Hermiston. DEQ received the permit application for the tra n sfe r statio n from Morrow County on Sept 23, 2004 Based on this permit application and a completed Land U se C om patibility Statement, DEQ prepared and sent out a draft transfer station permit to interested citizens, local governments, businesses and local media fo r public com m ent in January.
