SIX • Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, April 28,2004 Obituaries Judith Elizabeth “Judy” Monahan Ju d ith E lizab eth “ J u d y ” M onahan, 60, a com puter technology and systems management expert, of Eugene, died Monday, April 19,2004, of cancer. Rosary was held April 23 at M usgrove Fam ily Mortuary in Eugene. A funeral was held April 24 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Eugene. A graveside service and burial was held April 26 at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery. She was bom Judith Elizabeth Baran on March 12, 1944, at Buffalo, N.Y. She graduated from the University o f B uffalo and lived in Washington, D.C. from 1968 until 1993 and in Eugene from 1993 until her death. She m arried J. Dominic Monahan of Heppner on Aug. 2, 1969, at Washington, D.C. Her professional life was cen tered around com puter technology and systems management. She held positions with the Senate, MCI/Systemhouse and most recently as an AIRS manager for Lane County. She was said to be a role model for all who knew her. She was a devoted and energetic mother to her five children and was a doting grandmother. She was a talented seamstress and craftsperson who spent years designing and constructing costumes for community and children’s th e a te r p ro d u ctio n s in W ashington, D .C. She volunteered countless hours organizing community and charitable events including Friendship House Market Day, Holy Trinity Elementary School fe stiv als, C hrist Church Child Center auctions and Marist High School Peace and Justice Day. She loved books, music, theater and movies. Survivors include her husband, J. Dominic Monahan of Eugene; her children, son, J. Michael Monahan II, and w ife, Joy Lyu, o f New O rleans; daughter, Amy Reischauer and husband, Pete, o f S eattle; son, C hris Monahan of Seattle; son. Matt M onahan of Seattle; and daughter, Melissa Monahan of Los Angeles; grandchildren, J.D. Monahan II and Emily Reischauer; and her brothers, Daniel Baran and Richard Baran. HHS Prom Court 2004 PROPERTY & HOMES FOR SALE Ernest Nelson Bigbee Ernest Nelson Bigbee, 93, died Sunday, April 11, 2004, in Salinas, CA. T here w ill be a requiem service on Thursday, April 29, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Portland. Bigbee was bom in Louisville, KY, on Dec. 30, 1910. He m oved to Indianapolis when he was two years old. He attended Arsenal Technical High School and graduated from Attucks High School. He m arried Abner Cordelia Dunville, and worked at Paper Package as a millwright. In June 1957, he moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he worked at Sealright as a millwright, machinist and pattern maker. In February 1975, when his wife died, he moved to Heppner. Later, he moved to Salinas, CA where he was living when he died. He is survived by his daughters, Myrna Heil of P ortland and M artha Lumpkin, of Salinas, CA; two grandchildren, Suzan Lumpkin of Columbia, MD, and Louis “Jerry ” Lum pkin, Jr., of Salinas, CA; and one great g ran d so n , L ouis “ L .J.” Lumpkin III. Eleanor A. Gonty Eleanor A. Gonty, 87, of Heppner, died Monday, April 26 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Sweeney Mortuary in Heppner.
