The M orrow County rodeo is only open to M orrow County residents. Tracy Griffith earned the all-around title. Griffith also e a rn e d first, w ith p a rtn e r E m m et Evans in the team roping w ith a tim e o f 7.8 seconds. Griffith also teamed up with Jennifer Griffith for a s e c o n d p la c e ru n o f 9.8 seconds. Rounding out the team roping in third place was Tara and Mike M ahoney with an 11.1 -second run. Brian K now les took the amateur calf roping saddle donated by Kinzua Resources LLC. His tw o-run tim e o f 43.14 seconds won him the s a d d le as he p u t R y an Matteson’s 45.18-second time in second place. Shad Bishop finished third with a tim e o f 53.51 seconds. The c a lf riding title w ent to Willy G entry with a 78-point ride. Luke Shover took second with a 75-point ride. Shaun Eng had a 75- point ride in the cow riding com petition giving him first place over a tie for second between Ty Hurl and Madison Bailey, who both brought in 71-point rides. M atteson also gave th e b e st run in th e s te e r wrestling with 12.0 seconds. Evans took second with 15.8 seconds and Jack M cG uire took third with 26.6 seconds. The open calf roping title w as ta k e n by D av e Cannon with a tim e o f 16.53 seconds. Jennifer Griffith also participated in the senior goat tying taking first. Amy Jepsen finished second in the event w ith a tim e o f 12.5 seconds. In ju n io r goat tying, M ary Shae Hays placed first with a time o f 12.9 seconds and Eric Jepsen finished second with 15.6 seconds. C o m in g d o w n to tenths o f a second, Tiffanie Greenup took first in the senior barrels w ith a tim e o f 17.67 seconds, with Angie Hughes ta k in g s e c o n d at 17.94 seco n d s. The Heppner High School cheerleaders sold hotdogs during the book signing on Saturday, Aug. 16 and held a Kiddie Carnival on Thursday, Aug. 14, to raise $140 for their cheerleading program.
