Lee M eCarl, father o f two o f the scouts, knew Miller was having trouble navigating the steps in and out o f her h o u se , an d s u g g e ste d the scouts build the ram p for her. M iller w as a teacher in the Heppner schools for 22 years. She has been living back in H eppner for three years. S o m e 48 d iffe re n t contest entries com peted for p r iz e m o n e y in fiv e a g e categories at the 45th Annual Talent Show, which w as held in Pendleton on March 6-8. In the elem entary age division, “Mulligan Stew” claimed first place honors and $ 100 cash with their performance o f “The I ris h W a s h e r W o m a n ” . M u llig a n S te w in c lu d e d Heppner m em bers Bryan and Matt Holland, Kelle Jones and Sarah Kendrick. O ther group members were: Russel Pattee, C o n d o n , K o d ria a n d Ben H ad d o ck , Pilot R ock, and H annah H aberstroh, B laise G rant and H olly W am e o f Pendleton. S e c o n d p la c e , and $75 cash in the elem entary division went to “The B lazin’ B ow s” and their rendition o f “Texas S ch o ttisch e” . Seth C ase, W alker H o o le h a n , Jo a n n a W olotira, and Ben and Joe H addock from the Pendleton area rounded out the group. “Shenanigan Fiddlers” were nam ed the w inner o f the m iddle school division. They received $ 100 following their perform ance o f a m edley o f Iris h tu n e s . T h e s ix S h en an ig an s m em b ers, all from South M orrow County, include fiddlers Brynna Rust, Eric Jepsen, K ate K endrick, Kara Clay, and Alex Carlson, along w ith M att H olland on guitar. Nick Berretta, formerly o f H eppner, tied for second place w ith his vocal solo o f “ Love Changes Everything”. T h is y e a r ’s $ 5 0 0 G rand Prize w ent to the Kik- It U p K lo g g e rs w ith th eir p e r f o r m a n c e o f “ W itc h Dance” . The People’s Choice Award went to the Homestead T rio o f Irr ig o n ( F ra z ie r , L ib e r ty , a n d Spencer W am beke) and their com edy p ia n o /v o c a l p e rfo rm a n c e entitled “Page Turner” . T h e fid d le g ro u p s perform ed at the St. Patrick’s Day C elebration in H eppner and were featured at the Ceili at the Elks Club. St. Patrick’s Catholic Church received the Leprechaun's Choice, grand sweepstakes Wranglers spring clinic and playday to be held G et rea d y fo r W ra n g le r s on S a tu r d a y , M arch 22. The spring clinic will be held at 8:30-10 a.m . for advanced students and 10- 11:30 a.m . fo r b e g in n e rs. T here will be a potluck at 12 noon. Participants are asked to bring their favorite dish, drinks and eating utensils. After lunch, a playday will be held, with different age groups. A fter all participants have com pleted one run, they m ay run again. Electric tim er directions are just past the split rail fence, turn left, and at far end o f the pasture. C ost is $5 for clinic and $5 fo r p la y d a y . Participants are requested to RSVP. Volunteers are needed to help w ith events.
