Precommercial thinning is needed to improve tree growth and maintain vigor within 562 acres o f overstocked stands of seedlings and saplings 20 to 25 years old. Trees will be cut by hand using chainsaws. Trees less than 18 inches in height or greater than 7 inches DBH will not be cut unless they are deformed, are western juniper or infected with mistletoe.
