The Neighborhood Reader Wagon, a 35-foot bookmobile in a fifth-wheel configuration with a capacity for approximately 4,000 volumes, on-board Internet access and a display case for museum exhibits, has received support from a federal grant in the amount of $88,036. The award is contingent upon community support for operating funds. The proposed Reader Wagon would extend library services to schools, senior centers, trailer courts, stores, parks and other locations, said Chavez. People who reside in surrounding communities outside district boundaries would be able to access the bookmobile by supporting a $25 per year fee or by petitioning to join the district. Voters will have an opportunity to decide on the bookmobile on November 3, Chavez said. Sandy Matthews with painting The Morrow County Creative Arts and Crafts Club is holding a raffle of a painting. The painting, which is by Robert Walton and depicts an outdoor scene with people on horseback, is now on display in the Heppner TV window. The painting will be moved to other downtown shops.
