Sophomore quarterback Ryan Matteson passed for four touchdowns to three different receivers for 248 yards. Filling in for the injured Shane Matheny, Matteson completed 15 of 27 passes after a shaky start. The Mustangs received the kick-off to start the game but were forced to punt, pinning the TigerScots back to their own 16- yard line. Jaysi The lone Middle School Cardinals played both North and South Sherman in girls' volleyball, which resulted in a win-loss situation. This season's opener was held Friday, September 18. The Cards first took on the South Sherman Mustangs and, within two matches, had a smashing victory over the Mustangs, 15-7, 15-4. The Cards turned around without rest and fought the North Sherman Cougars. The first match the Cougars came up ahead, 15-11, but the Cards picked up the pace in the second, 16-14, which led to a third match. At the end of the unexpected third match, the Cougars came out ahead, winning the game, 15-9. "The sixth grade girls did very well for their first game.
