MCSO received a report of a subject walking down a street af ter curfew in Heppner. The com plainant was advised that the sub ject was not a juvenile. M C SO d isp a tc h e d to the B o a rd m a n P o lice D ept, and Boardman ambulance a request for an ambulance for a man who had been drinking. It ended up being a police action. M C SO d isp a tc h e d to the Boardman ambulance a report of a worker unconscious and with erratic breathing at Boardman Foods. MCSO received a report o f a broken pop machine at Ruggs. Pepsi Co. came and fixed it. MCSO received a report o f a car broken into and a stereo sto len in Boardman. M CSO received a report o f kids playing on the 911 line in Irrigon. M C SO d isp a tc h e d to the Heppner ambulance a request for an ambulance for a woman who couldn’t get out ofbed in Heppner. MCSO received a re port o f a purse taken from a cart at Central Market. MCSO received a report from a woman that her ex-husband had not returned with her daughter. The daughter was later returned. MCSO received a request for assistance from a deputy while on a stop with an armed career crimi nal. MCSO received a report o f a man threatened by another man who is allegedly a m em ber o f the Mexican Mafia and carries an Uzi with him. M CSO received a report o f mail opened and thrown along a road. MCSO received a report o f a suspicious vehicle in Irrigon. MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f sev eral juveniles vandalizing the pop machine at H eppner'Elem entary School. MCSO received a request for an ambulance for a man with a cut foot. MCSO dispatched to the Or egon State Police a report o f a coyote hit and appearing paralyzed and needing to be put down. July 14: MCSO received a re port o f possible cruelty to animals in Boardman. M CSO received a report o f possible m ail fraud. A Florida woman had ordered Beanie Ba bies at an Irrigon address and sent a check for $150 and didn’t re ceived them. The other woman allegedly has several mail drops where money can be sent and then does not provide the merchandise. Oregon State Police arrested Rodney Bryce Virgil, 37, for the M anufacture/Delivery o f a Con trolled Substance. V irgil was lodged at the Um atilla County S h eriff s office jail. MCSO received a report of a white van passing a vehicle in the no-passing zone and almost run ning them o ff the road. M C SO d isp a tc h e d to the Boardman ambulance a report o f a 10 year old girl who attempted to jum p a bike ramp on her bike, didn’t make it, and landed on her head. She was wearing a helmet but she couldn’t move her arms and legs. The patient was trans ported to Good Shepherd Commu nity Hospital in Hermiston. M CSO received a report o f a male in a white van pulling a gun on another man. MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner ambulance a report o f an ill wom an requesting to be trans ported to Pioneer Memorial Hos pital in Heppner. M CSO received a report o f yelling near a residence in Hepp ner. M CSO received a report o f kids at the city park and one o f the kids jumped in front of a pickup and yelled as the pickup went by. MCSO deputy arrested Vem Folly, 19, for Driving Under the Influence o f Intoxicants, Reckless Driving, Driving While License Suspended misdemeanor. Folly drove the wrong way (westbound in the eastbound lane) on I-G4. July 15: MCSO received a re port o f a man followed around town then out to the dam tailgated all the way by a person in a light blue Ford pickup. M C SO d isp a tc h e d to the Boardman Fire Dept, and ambu lance a report o f a Blazer fully engulfed on 1-84, milepost 161. M C SO d isp a tc h e d to the Boardman Police Dept, a report o f a man brandishing a gun at an other man. MCSO received a report o f a another Florida woman who or dered $85 worth o f Beanie Ba bies from an address in Imgon and didn’t received them. MCSO dispatched to the Or egon State Police a report o f a 15 year old boy and an adult man in Im gon shadowboxing and acting very strange. MCSO received a report of a C a lifo rn ia m an w ho o rd ered Beanie Babies from an Im gon address and didn’t receive them. MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f a man coming in to Central Market with 14 $2 bills. MCSO dispatched to the Or egon State Police a report o f an erratic driver on 1-84. MCSO received a report o f a man following a woman in Imgon. M C SO d isp a tc h e d to the Boardman Police Dept, a report o f a civil problem involving furni ture. MCSO received a report o f a Mississippi woman who had sent $540 for Beanie Babies and hadn’t received them. An officer requested backup at the H eppner City Park. Andy Burt, 19, was arrested for Parole Violation/Unauthonzed Use o f a M otor Vehicle and local charges o f R esisting A rrest. Burt was lodged at the Um atilla County S heriff s office jail. Heppner Police Dept, arrested Tessa Lynn Drew, 29, on three Heppner Justice Court warrants for Negotiating a Bad Check. MCSO received a report o f an injured deer on Highway 730. Heppner Fire Dept., Heppner ambulance and Lexington EMTs responded to a report o f a man injured when the 4-w heeler he was riding flipped over on him. M CSO received a report o f boys swimming in the canal at Paul Smith Road and Canal Lane. July 16: MCSO dispatched to the Oregon State Police a report o f someone trashing a vehicle in Im gon. The stereo and speakers were stolen and windows were broken. MCSO dispatched to the O r egon State Police a report o f three semi-trucks traveling between 75- 80 mph. MCSO received a report that a woman’s ex-husband’s new girl friend rear-ended the woman sev e ral tim es ju s t o u ts id e o f Boardman and pushed her into a ditch. M CSO received a report o f two sites graffitied in Im gon. M CSO received a report o f two males in a brown and cream monster truck with bats and pipes chasing another man and break ing out the window in his car. MCSO received a report o f a person who was irate at the judge in Irrigon riding a red H arley around the area. MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a request to de liver an emergency message to the W illow C reek RV Park. The people had already left. MCSO received a report o f a civil problem concerning a car in Imgon. MCSO received a report o f a man making threats against an other man in Boardman. MCSO received a report o f a couple walking on 1-84 toward B oardm an. They w ere out o f gasoline. Ju ly 17: B oardm an P o lice Dept., and ambulance responded to a report o f a woman having a heart attack in Boardman. The patient was transported to Good Shepherd Community Hospital in Hermiston. MCSO received a request for an ambulance for a 90 year old male having chest pains and diffi culty breathing in Heppner. M CSO received a report o f vandalism on a covered wagon in Imgon. MCSO received a report o f the U.S. W est building in IrrigOn graffitied. MCSO received a report o f a man trying to pass a $20 counter feit check at the Im gon Post Of fice. MCSO deputy, Oregon State Police responded to a report o f a d o m e stic d isp u te in Irrig o n . Leonard N. Murrill, 46, was ar rested for Assault IV Domestic and was lodged at the Umatilla County S h eriffs office jail. The school was contacted. MCSO received a report o f a boy bitten by a dog in lone. July 18: MCSO dispatched to the Heppner Police Dept, a re port o f a woman with a five week old child locked out o f the house by her husband. MCSO received a report o f a vehicle parked hazardously on Highway 207. M CSO received a request to contact a female in Im gon whose father is dying. MCSO dispatched to the U.S. Post Office a report o f several New York people who sent $150 to an Im gon address for Beanie Babies and didn’t received them. M CSO received a report o f someone burning in a bum barrel during the burning ban in Hepp ner. MCSO deputy, Boardman Fire Dept, responded to a report o f a g ra s s fire out o f c o n tro l in Boardman. MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report that a person from Central Market had sold beer to a scruffy-looking man w ith a b e a rd w ho had an underaged male with him. M CSO received a report o f a domestic dispute in Boardman. It was a verbal dispute. M CSO received a report o f loud music at a residence in Hepp ner. MCSO deputy, Boardman and Im gon fire depts. responded to a rep o rt o f a vehicle on fire at Patterson Ferry. July 19: MCSO received a re port o f a wrong-way driver east- bound in the westbound lanes on 1-84. MCSO received a report o f an intrusion alarm at Beecher's in lone. The building was secure. MCSO received a report o f a man who was injured when he was pushed. O re g o n S tate P o lic e , Boardman ambulance responded to single vehicle rollover on 1-84 westbound, m ilepost 162. Two parents were transported to Good Shepherd Community Hospital in Hermiston. MCSO deputy, Boardman Po lice Dept, responded to a report o f a van stolen from Sandpiper Apts, in Boardman. M CSO received a report o f someone breaking into a garage at Ruggs. M CSO received a report o f water leaking from a sidew alk grate at the city park in Heppner. The city was advised. MCSO received a report o f a distu rb an ce at a resid e n ce in Im gon. A woman wanted a man out o f h er re s id e n c e and he wouldn’t leave. Heppner and lone fire depts. responded to a report o f a grass fire out o f lone toward G oose berry. It had spread to a wheat field. MCSO received a report o f a civil problem involving a car in Imgon. MCSO received a report that a girl previously reported as a run away returned. MCSO received information c o n c e rn in g a s ta b b in g in Boardman. MCSO deputy, Boardman Po lice Dept, responded to a report o f a group ofjuveniles yelling and screaming in Boardman. M C SO d is p a tc h e d to the Boardman Police Dept, a report o f a 5-6 adult males drinking all day long at a laundry room at the Outback Apts. MCSO deputy, Heppner and lo n e a m b u la n c e s , E M T s r e sponded to a report o f a man in a vehicle that was pulling a boat run ning into a ditch. The man was reported to be out o f vehicle stag gering with unknown injuries. July 20: MCSO received a re port o f g raffiti on a fence in Imgon. An officer was requested. MCSO received a report o f a fire at the Heppner Post Office. The fire was out, but the post of fice requested it checked out. MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f a child custody problem. MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f a ve hicle keyed while parked near an apartment. MCSO received a report o f a blue and silver Bronco that ran in the laundromat in Irrigon. MCSO received a report o f a dispute over a sprinkler getting a neighbor’s yard, pickup and house wet. MCSO received a report o f in form ation concerning a stolen ATV. MCSO received a report o f a man getting the evil eye from a juvenile at the city park following a city council meeting. MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f a light going on in a neighbor’s house when there shouldn’t have been one there. July 21: MCSO received a com plaint concerning problem with a person supposedly selling Beanie Babies. Sherman County ambulance, Rescue 1 and Rufus EM Ts re sponded to a report o f a boy with his arm trapped at the grain el evators. The patient was trans ported. MCSO received a report from a woman in Im gon that her son kicked in the door at her residence. He didn’t have a weapon nor al cohol or drugs, he was just mad. MCSO received a report o f a 12 month old baby not breathing. The baby was taken on foot to Pioneer M em orial H ospital in Heppner. M C SO d is p a tc h e d to the Boardman Police Dept, a report o f a cell phone stolen from a m an’s truck. MCSO received a report o f a luggage rack on a car dislodged on 1-84. Two gray bags with a tent, two blue lawn chairs and three foam bed pads fell off. MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f a single vehicle accident on Forest Service Road 53. MCSO received a report o f a fight in progress at Bake’s Res taurant. M CSO received a report o f two shots fired in Boardman. An officer was unable to locate any thing. July 22: MCSO deputy, Lexing ton EMTs and the Heppner Fire Dept, and ambulance responded to a report o f a vehicle that had rolled at Cutsforth Comer. One patient was transported to Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner. MCSO dispatched to the Lex ington and Heppner fire depts. a report o f flam es from a travel trailer in Lexington. MCSO deputy and Boardman Fire Dept, responded to a report o f a vehicle fire in the parking lot at the Boardman Dental Office. MCSO received a report o f a crop-dusting plane overstaying. MCSO received a report o f a woman who locked her keys and her baby in the car in Im gon. MCSO received a report o f 3- 6 horses out on the highway peri odically in the Gooseberry area. M CSO received a report o f concern over cattle possibly be ing stolen in the Heppner area. MCSO received a report o f a car all over the road on Highway 207. MCSO received a report of a male subject threatening to com mit suicide by taking pills at Oasis RV Park in Irrigon. Heppner Police Dept, cited a juvenile for Criminal M ischief III and Criminal M ischief II. July 23: MCSO dispatched to the Heppner Police Dept, a re quest for an officer concerning an eviction. MCSO received a request from a woman to file a stalking order complaint against her mother and sister. MCSO received a report o f log tru c k s d riv in g fast on L ittle B uttercreek/H ighw ay 207 with wheat trucks coming out o f the fields. M CSO received a report o f a park closed sign from 10 p.m.-4 a.m. put up on a disabled parking spot at the dam in Heppner and another will be put up at the far end o f the reservoir park. MCSO received a report of a grey pickup driving without head lights in Heppner. M CSO dispatched to the U.S. Post Office a report of money sent to Irrigon to purchase Beanie Ba bies and the toys were not re ceived. MCSO received a report that a woman withdrew money from another wom an’s bank account. M CSO dispatched to the Or egon State Police a report o f an elderly man walking in the middle o f the road on 1-84. MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f a bur glar alarm at the Heppner DMV. It turned out to be a man painting on the building. July 24: MCSO dispatched to the Oregon State Police a report o f a motorcycle all over the road. Vintage engines to be on display at fair noon on rodeo Saturday, August Local collectors o f vintage engines and tractors are invited to exhibit their favorite engines and share their hobby with visitors between 10 a.m. and 22 . Coalition promotes breastfeeding August 1-7 is "World Breastfeeding Week" and the lo c a l U m a tilla /M o rro w B re a stfee d in g C o a litio n encourages mothers to breastfeed their infants. Breastfeeding is not only beneficial to the infant, but also to the mother, the community and the environment, says Sherree Smith, local contact. According to a coaltion news release: -Breastfeeding gives infants the most complete nutrition possible, with nutrients and antibodies necessary for babies to thrive. Studies have shown that breastfed children have fewer and less serious illnesses, including reduced risk o f Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and fewer incidents o f childhood cancer and diabetes -Mothers who breastfeed are healthier, enjoying decreased risks o f breast and ovarian cancer, anemia and osteoporosis, and develop a close relationship with their baby formed through breastfeeding. -Families who breastfeed save money because they don’t have to buy formula and the health benefits o f breastfeeding provide savings on health care costs and related time lost to care for sick children. -Communities benefit from breastfed babies, because less tax money is required to provide V •vr*v I MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f a lot o f activity around the logging trucks at Les Schwab. Families who breastfeed have more money available to purchase goods and services. Research also shows that breastfeed babies have higher IQs as well as better brain and n erv o u s sy stem development. -Breastfeeding does not use the tin, paper, plastic or energy necessary for preparing, packaging and transporting artificial baby m ilks. Breastfeeding cuts down on pollution and garbage disposal problems. In addition, according to the coalition, research shows that exclusive breastfeeding naturally spaces pregnancies. The coalition provides some simple things to do to promote breastfeeding in the community, such as reacting positively and encouraging breastfeeding mothers, thanking the management o f restaurants, stores and public facilities which treat breastfeeding m others and babies with respect; and checking to see if the place o f worship, club, gym, library or other facility is supportive o f women who breastfeed and provides a place for m others to breastfeed their babies, among other things.
