"They didn't come to be educated," he said. "They came to be entertain- ed." Still, Tallman realizes that everyone has an opinion about his announcing. " The job itself is very simple: you say what you see abou t what's happen- ing," he said . " The position is difficult because in an audience of 16,000 people, you have about 12,000 critics." Tallman, the PRCA' s an- nouncer of the year in 1982 and Bob Tallman has become something of a fixture at the National Finals Rodeo. In his 20-plus years as a PRCA mem- ber, Tallman has announced the NFR eight times, including five consecutive trips since 1989. Tallman's knowledge of the sports, his resonant baritone voice and his ability to stir the crowd's emotions have made him one of the most popular announcers in professional rodeo. And little wonder. Tall- man knows what an audience '87, announces more than 200 rodeo performances each year. He has hosted several rodeo- oriented radio programs, and has spent substantial time in front of a television camera, as well. He holds a bachelor's degree in agriculture economics, and still raises cattle on his ranch in Baker City with his wife, Kris- ten, and daughter, Nicole. :all Morrow County Abstract & Title Co., Inc. ''My Favorite Out- fit" is a modeling contest that promotes consumer skills: clothing selection and coor- dination, as well as poise and self-confidence. Members may have constructed or purchased their garments for this contest, which is open to all 4-H mem- bers, regardles of project area . "Fashion Revue" is open to all clothing, knitting and cro- cheting project members . Dodgf: Truck to sponsor Dodge Truck Series competition . .,. Dodge Bull to be ridden at rodeo Dod ge Truck is once again sponsoring the popular Dod ge Truck Series, a year-long com- petition based on points earn- ed at participating Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeos. Stock contractors, rodeo an- nouncers and pickup men all · benefit financially from the sup- port of Dodge, a major PRCA sponsor for the past 10 years. In 1993, more than 125 rodeos participated in the Dodge Truck Series. Each sea- son, Dodge Truck provides substantial incentives, grants and advertising support. As part of its support, Dodge Truck awards the winners of its erie the use of a Dodge truck for one year. Also, the PRCA World Champion All-Around 14. For the sixth straigh t year, Dodge has been the named sponsor of the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo, the crowning event of the PRCA's circuit system. The Dodge Truck Bulls Pro- gram, initiated in 1992, offers bonuses to PRCA bull riders who ride selected bulls. Each de ignated bull's bonu starts at $5,000 and grows $500 each time the bull goes unridden . A cowboy who rides a Dodge bull receives the payoff and the bonus starts again at $1,000. Dodge Truck Bull Magnum VlO was ridden by Jerry Don West, July 4, at Molalla, for $12,500, now first in the stand- ings. Magnum VlO has been rid- den only two times in the bull's history in three years. The first time he was ridden in the Dod ge Circuit Finals; the se- cond time was by West. The bull has been to the National Finals Rodeo every year and has never been ridden. This Dodge Magn\lm VlO Bull is owned by Frank Beard Rodeo.
