Special Fair and Rodeo Edition, August 11, 1993-NINE TWELVE-Special Fair and Rodeo Edition, August 11 , 1993 Cowboy poet, storyteller to give two performances Cowboy poet and toryteller Jon Bowerman will amuse and delight vi itor to the Morrow County Fair in Heppner on Wcdne~y. Augu t 18. Two performance have been hedul- ed, t 2:30 p.m. on the tage in the p1 ni area and at 7 p .m. at the rodeo arena. Bowerman i well known for hi antic on tage where he may turn the podium into an unrideable rodeo bull, a cow with calving problems or a pickup truck with no brakes. ow he has trained hi horse to do the same thing in the arena. Bowerman has worked with internationally-known clinic in- tructors John Lyon , Ray Hunt and Tom Dorrance, to develop a ystem of natural communication between horse and rider that he and his wife teach on their ranch . By the time he was invited to the Fir t Annual Cowboy Poetry Gather- ing in Elko , Nevada, he had already penned more than a hun- dred poem , most of them hurnorou , about stampeding cat- tle, runaways, buckoffs and what it' like to hare a rainsoaked bedroll with critters that creep and crawl in the night .
