After a short visit to Baker, I have a great respect for the pioneers who, if they didn’t leave most of their treasured belongings behind, had to before they reach ed the end o f the trail. I gaze with awe at the antique mirror in my mother’s bedroom that came on the trail with her great aunt and wonder that it made it, a reminder o f the home left behind. While these treasures meant much to the pioneer women, discarding them along the trail was not nearly as heartbreaking as burying so meone every 80 yards. A trip back in history can give us more perspective on our lives today. Motorcycles roared in Saturday and were greeted by volunteers Cara Osmin. Bob Jepsen, John Edmundson, Rene Devin, Meg Murray and the Spicerkuhn fami ly. Many riders indicated they would return in a car with their families on a later date and they appreciated the hospitality. We were sorry there were accidents. Wind, we were told, made riding very difficult. Next week Chamber will hold another conference call with Wes C ooley, our senator. Come prepared to ask questions.
