Members discussed their pigs and how they were doing. Then members reviewed the pigs, sheep and beef parts and talked about the fair. The club plans to go to the Her miston fair. Bill Broderick, Morrow Coun ty Extension agent, recently received a master of arts degree from Vermont College of Nor wich University. His area of con centration was adult education. Broderick earned his master’s degree through the graduate pro gram at Vermont College which provides students with the oppor tunity to work independently toward their M.A. under the guidance of a core faculty advisor and a field specialist in the One hundred twelve people were present for the senior dinner on August 5 including eight visitors. Members of the Christian Church served. Alberta Johannes won the meal ticket, Beulah Ogletree the door prize and Kathy Pitzer received the guest prize. Stan Foster, executive director of CAPECO, several staff members and the Nutrition Site Committee met with the senior center board after the dinner to outline the changes and benefits of the programs for seniors under the umbrella of CAPECO. The Nutrition Site Committee held their regular monthly business meeting later in the office. The menu for August 19 will be salmon w ith tartar sauce, parsleyed potatoes, pea salad, whole wheat roll and fruit crisp. Members of the Christian Life Center and Mormon churches will serve. The senior bus trip to Baker City August 14 is booked. Bluegrass in the Blues and Barbecue 92 featuring Special Consen sus, The Greers and Sawtooth Mt. Boys will be at the Red Lion Con cert Bowl, Pendleton, Sat. Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. This is presented by CAPECO to benefit low income families. All seniors who would like to bake pies and work in the pie booth at the fair please call the senior center office or stop by and sign-up. Proceeds go to help maintain our center. Everyone’s help is needed. Sheriff’s Report The Sheriffs office at the cour thouse in Heppner reports dispat ching the following business dur ing the past week: August 4: Morrow County deputy responded to the Ione area for a report of criminal mischief. A totem pole was removed from a residence and later located in front of the Post Office; Morrow County Sheriffs of fice dispatched the Heppner Fire Dept to an alarm sounding at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. The alarm was set off by a barbecue going outside that had sent smoke into the hospital setting off the alarms; Morrow County Sheriffs of fice dispatched the Boardman am bulance to the Ready Mix Plant for one male with an injury. Pa tient was transported to Board man Clinic; Morrow County deputy ar rested Robert John Brehm, 21, on a Umatilla County Sheriffs office warrant for Parole Violation. Brehm was transported to Umatilla County Sheriffs office; Morrow County deputy assisted the Oregon State Police in attempting to locate a a firefighter enroute to a fire area to deliver a message; Morrow County Sheriff s of fice dispatched the Boardman Fire dept to a report of a fire nine miles west of the Umatilla Army Depot. Fire dept could not locate the fire. August 5: Morrow County Sheriffs office dispatched the Fossil EMT and ambulance to Haven House for a male with an injury. Subject was transported to Madras; Morrow County Sheriffs of fice dispatched the Arlington am bulance to the Village Inn Motel for a male with an illness. Patient refused transport; Morrow County Sheriff s of fice dispatched the Boardman am bulance to an industrial accident at the construction site of Onion Plant at the Port of Morrow. One male was transported to Good Shepherd Community Hospital with unknown injuries; Morrow County Sheriff s of fice dispatched the Boardman am bulance to TACX Cubing Plant for one male with an illness. Sub ject was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital; Morrow County Sheriff s of fice dispatched the Heppner am bulance to Upper Rhea Creek for a male with injuries. Subject was transported to Pioneer Memorial Hospital; Morrow County deputy responded to back up Boardman Police Dept with a possible domestic disturbance. August 6: Morrow County Sheriffs office dispatched the Boardman Fire Dept to a grass fire on Wilson Road across from the Outback Apartments; Morrow County Sheriff s of fice took a report of theft from Eugenia Lawrence, 305 NE 9th, Irrigon. A baby ring was reported stolen. Amount of value unknown, Morrow County Sheriffs of fice dispatched the Boardman am bulance to Fox Harvesting, Olson Road, for one male with injuries. There was no transport; Morrow County deputy responded to investigate a juvenile problem in Boardman; Morrow County deputy responded to investigate suspicious noises in Irrigon; Morrow County deputy responded to investigate a possi ble juvenile problem in Irrigon. August 7: Morrow County deputy responded to investigate a neighborhood dispute in Irrigon. There was no action taken; Morrow County deputy took a report of a lost drivers’ license in Irrigon, Investigation is continuing; Morrow County deputy responded to investigate a neighborhood dispute in Irrigon. There was no action taken; Morrow County deputies responded to a two vehicle acci dent on Division and County road in Irrigon. Investigation is continuing. August 8: Morrow County Sheriffs office dispatched the Boardman ambulance to a motor vehicle accident on 1-84 at mile post 152. There was no transport; Morrow County deputies responded to assist the Boardman Police Dept with a disturbance at a Boardman business. August 9: Morrow County deputy responded to 1-84, mile post 157 for a report of a female subject throwing things on the freeway. Deputy wasn’t able to locate anyone upon arrival; Morrow County deputy assisted the Boardman Police Dept with a report of a disagree ment at the Texaco station in Boardman. August 10: Morrow County deputy responded to a prowler call on Kunze and Paul Smith Road in Boardman. Call was unfounded; Morrow County deputy took a report of vandalism done to a disabled pickup that was parked near Graham's place on Hwy. 74 between Heppner and Lexington. The pickup belonged to Jeff Thomas of California. PUBLIC NOTICE The Morrow County Court will hold a public hearing on Wednes day. August 26, 1992, at 10:00 a.m. at the Morrow County Courthouse in Heppner, Oregon. According to a phone service representative, Heppner TV was PUBLIC NOTICE 1992 SUBSOILING AND MECHANICAL THINNING USDA - Forest Service Umatilla National Forest Heppner Ranger District Morrow and Wheeler Counties, Oregon On August 10, 1992, Heppner District Ranger, Delanne Ferguson, made a decision to im plement the 1992 Subsoiling and Mechanical Thinning Project on the Heppner Ranger District. These subsoiling treatments would relieve soil compaction, reduce stocking levels, and pro vide site preparation for planting and natural regeneration. Subsoil ing activities will be taking place within harvested units in the following past sale areas: Texas, Texas LP, Coal LP, Kelly, Wheeler, Porter, Dry Swale/Ditch, Spring LP, and Suf fering LP. The associated Decision Notice and Environmental Assessment is available upon request from the Umatilla National Forest, 2517 SW Hailey Avenue, Pendleton, OR 97801 and the Heppner Ranger District, P.O. Also a great big thank you to Russ Britt and George Koffler for helping coach this season. We ended up with a 14-1 season record and won the Columbia Tri-County league for the second straight year. These coaches did a great job. Last but certainly not least a special thanks to the parents. The parents of South Morrow Co. players have always been very supportive of the kids.
