Lex Grange slates wildlife program By Delpha Jones A presentation on illegal com- mercialization and sale of wildlife and high seas drift nets will be the program for Lexington Grange Monday, Feb. 17. The program will be given by Nor- man Zeller. A 6:30 p.m . potluck dinner is planned with the pro- gram at 7:30 followed by the regular meeting. The program i open to the public. Beginning golf classes slated Blue Mountain Community College will offer two beginning golf classes this spring at Willow Creek Country Club. The first class will be held on Friday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon and will run four weeks . The class dates will be March 6 , 13, 20 and April 3. The second class will be held on Monday evenings from 5 to SEP• IRA's IRA's Now Qualified Annuities : Homemaker Study Group Leader Training on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The training will be offered at 10 a .m. at the Umatilla County Extension office, 721 S.E. Third Street, Pendleton, and at 7 p.m. at the Stokes Landing Center, 195 W . Opal Place, Irrigon. There is no charge for the lesson and the program is open to all interested citizens. Participants are asked to bring an example of a cartoon or joke to share. Lutherans celebrate Sunday, Feb. 16, the congrega- tions of Hope and Val by Lutheran churche will celebrate the sixth Sunday after the Epiphany with a service of Holy Communion. Pastor Hoobing will preach on the theme of • 'The Victory Has Been Won,'' based on a reading of I Corinthians 15 : 12, 16-20. Valby Lutheran churc h , located on the Ione-Goo eberry Road will meet at 8 : 15 a.m. for an adult Bible class. That' the topic of a tour Monday, February 17, in Mor- row County according to Mike Stoltz, OSU Extension Agent. "Don Rydrych, retired weed control scientist at the Pendleton Experiment Station, has agreed to tour with us," said Stoltz . "We · will start at 9:30 a.m. at the Mor- row County Grain Growers office in Ione and tour that area in the morning." In the afternoon the tour will tart at the Heppner Extension of- flee at 1: 15 p.m. and tour the area around Heppner. "There is a lot of concern on what to do right now with the small wheat and cheatgrass grow- ing all winter," said Stoltz. "We feel very fortunate to have Don Rydrychjoin us as he did a lot of the research work on metribuzin for cheatgrass control." James Retherford will be the speaker for special evangelistic services to be held at the Christian Life Center on Sun- day, Feb. 16 at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday evenings Feb. 17-19 at 7 p.m. James and his wife Betty ininister through music , preaching from the Bible, and testimonies of God's power and blessings in their lives.
