Lex Grange slates wildlife program

A presentation on illegal com-
mercialization and sale of wildlife
and high seas drift nets will be the
program

Lexington
Grange Monday, Feb. 17. The
program will be given by Nor-
man Zeller. A 6:30 p.m . potluck
dinner is planned with the pro-
gram at 7:30 followed by the
regular meeting. The program i
open to the public.
Beginning golf classes slated
Blue Mountain Community
College will offer two beginning
golf classes this spring at Willow
Creek Country Club.
The first class will be held on
Friday mornings from 10:30 a.m.
to 12 noon and will run four
weeks . The class dates will be
March 6 , 13, 20 and April 3.
The second class will be held
on Monday evenings from 5 to

the rules of golf and the playing
skills of golf including putting,
chipping, pitching, approaching,

The bus will go 10 Pendleton Friday, Feb. 14 to tour the Pendleton
Underground, the Bordello tour and have a no-host dinner at the
King' Table. The group will leave the enior center at 8 a.m. Th~re

One hundred twenty-nine people were pre ent for dinner Feb. 5.
One dinner wa taken out. Member of the Lutheran Church erv-
ed. Lois Allen won the meal ticket, Ja on Palmer the door prize and
Mary Kirk Lamb of We ton received the guest prize.
The menu for Feb, 19 will be lasagna with meat, peas and car-
rots, fruit salad, garlic bread and pudding. Member of the Chris-
tian Life Center and Mormon Churches will erve.
There will be a tran portation meeting Wednesday, Feb. 19 follow-
ing lunch at I :30 p .m .
The nutrition ite committee met after dinner Feb. 5. The transpor-
talion committee met Thursday, Feb. 6 .
The office staff and other volunteers folded news letters for the
Extension Service Thur day afternoon.

churche will celebrate the sixth
Sunday after the Epiphany with
a service of Holy Communion.
Pastor Hoobing will preach on
the theme of • 'The Victory Has
Been Won,'' based on a reading
of I Corinthians 15 : 12, 16-20.

Cheatgrass-and what to do
now. That' the topic of a tour
Monday, February 17, in Mor-
row County according to Mike
Stoltz, OSU Extension Agent.
"Don Rydrych, retired weed
control scientist at the Pendleton
Experiment Station, has agreed to
tour with us," said Stoltz . "We ·
will start at 9:30 a.m. at the Mor-
row County Grain Growers office
in Ione and tour that area in the
morning."
In the afternoon the tour will
tart at the Heppner Extension of-
flee at 1: 15 p.m. and tour the area
around Heppner.
"There is a lot of concern on
what to do right now with the
small wheat and cheatgrass grow-
ing all winter," said Stoltz. "We
feel very fortunate to have Don
Rydrychjoin us as he did a lot of
the research work on metribuzin
for cheatgrass control."
The tour is being coordinated
by the Morrow County Extension
office and Morrow County Grain
Growers.
