The wildlife enforcement decoy (WED) a device used to simulate wildlife, consisting of real or ar tificial parts. The WED will be us ed in detecting and apprehending violators illegally harvesting Oregon’s wildlife resource. The ad vantage to using the WED is that the Fish and Wildlife Division will be able to target problem areas and in tercept the offender before wildlife is killed. During the past month the game officers have received training in the proper and safe methods of using the WED. Statistics show that the illegal harvest o f O regon’s wildlife resource is increasing. Conventional methods of detection and apprehen sion are not solving the problem. A progressive enforcement program is required, the use of the WED is one such program, said an OSP news release. The WED’s will be utilized in pro blem areas during day time and night time.
