Morrow County Fair and Rodeo Premium Book-THIRTV-ONr DIVISION 4 4-H WESTERN EQUITATION PREMIUMS Blue.M.Red-$5.White.4 BASIS FOR SCORING: Clothing and equipment IS percent Seat and hands 15 percent Performance SO percent In all divisions, hone will be worked ai a group at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring. The Judge will then ask each individual for any or all of the movements listed in 4-H Contest Outline. LOT 1. Beginners 2. Juniors S. Intermediates 4. Seniors flying lead change required 5. Colt Equitation for horses 2 through 4 years old. Inclusive of all age contestants. Exhibitor may show colts in the proper age division above or in the colt equitation, but not in both. Choice of equipment optional, as listed under Western equitation. When using bosal hackamore or snaffle bits, two hands on reins permitted. DIVISION 5441 COLT GROUND TRAINING PREMIUMS Blue-H. Red.5. While-f All age contestants compete together. Entrants will do as many of the 14 items listed in Step 4B of the Oregon 4-H Horse Advancement Program as they can in the fifteen minute time limit. Contestant must give judge a list of exercises to be attempted. Judging will be based on bow all items attempted are accomplished. Colts must be born in 1962, 1983, or 1964. DIVISION 6 4-H ENGLISH EQUITATION PREMIUMS Blue -M. Red -Si, White -14 LOT 1. Beginners and Juniors 2. Intermediates and Seniors Horses to be shown at the walk, trot, and canter both ways of ring. To be judged SO percent on performance and SO percent on hands and seat Required movements in 4-H Horse contest outline. Either hunt seat or saddle seat tack and attire acceptable. Riders will be judged on effective use of aids and horse control. Emphasis on posture and balance. DIVISION 7 ADVANCED EQUITATION PREMIUMS Blue-M. Red -IJ. While -S4 This class msy be ridden either Western or English. This is an Individual workout class. It will be judged on hands, seat and legs while performing the specified maneuvers and a two-minute free-style ride. Before performing, the rider must provide the judge with a typewritten program of his-ber freestyle ride. Mandatory Test SO points (see accompanying diagrams) 1. A ' Enter ordinary trot sitting. X Halt. Salute. Proceed ordinary trot sitting. C Track right. 2. F Half circle right, S3' diameter, returning to track at B. 2. C Halt S seconds. Proceed ordinary trot sitting. 4. H Ordinary trot sitting C Walk B Ordinary trot sitting 10. A Down center X Halt. Salute. Leave arena free walk. (Proceed to C, right or left around perimeter of ring to A, then out of ring. EQUITATION OF MANDATORY TEST - SO points General impressions, seat, hands, willingness of horse, regularity and freedom of paces, correct use of aids. Contestants may show Stock Seat, Hunt Seat, Dressage Seat, or Saddle Seat. No whips are allowed unless contestant rides sidesaddle. At the Initial halt and salute, the girl nods head ; the boy removes hat, puts hat down to his leg, nods, and puts hat back on. "Track Right at C" means to go right Into the corner making obtuse corners. Make all changes In direction or gait as rider's shoulder passes marker. Each contestant may have caUer or reader who will stand at letter E or B. If reader gives wrong direction, rider must do the test correctly or be penalised. The marker at A will be placed back from the ring to facilitate entering the ring on a straight line. Any horse leaving arena not under control will be eliminated. Test starts and ends at A. FREE-STYLE RIDE 100 points Free-style ride to follow mandatory performance. Rider must provide judge with a typewritten program of his-ber free-style ride before performing this section of the class. Riders will be scored on their performance, during their two minutes, similarly to the mandatory test. LOT 1. Beginner and Junior 2. Intermediate 3. Senior DIVISION 0 4-H HUNT SEAT EQUITATION OVER FENCES PREMIUMS Blue-M.Red-fS.White-H LOT 1. Beginners and Juniors Riders to be judged over a course of six fences, maximum, not to exceed 2 feet, 6 inches in height; crossed poles. Course to be posted. Any or all contestants may be called back to perform at three gaits or any test asked by judge. To be judged on performance and hands and seat. Except for refusals, jumping faults of the horse are not to be considered unless it is the result of the rider's ability. Three cumulative refusals will eliminate. If a refusal occurs in a double or triple, riders shall re jump all elements of the combination. Hard hats with chin straps and boots required. Hunt seat tack and attire or modifications of same accepted. Spurs and crops are optional. 2. Intermediates and Seniors Riders to be judged over a course of nine fences, maximum, not to exceed three feet in height. Jumps may include post and rail, brush, coop, wall, oxer, crossed poles, gate, and or picket fence. Judging and performance other than jumping to be the same as in the above class.
