Entrants must be preregistered by July 29 at County Extension office. Entrants requesting stalling will be assigned stalls prior to the show. Open to 4-H members enrolled in a 4-H project in Morrow County. No stallions over the age of one year are allowed in 4-H contests, Each member must use same horse for showmanship, equitation, and trail, but are not required to use same horse for both Western and English classes. EXCEPTION : Member exhibiting in colt training, colt showmanship and first year under saddle may exhibit more than one horse at fair. A member cannot cross-enter horse shown in the colt showmanship and-or colt training classes. However, if member has no other equitation horse, first-year under saddle animal may be used in regular classes but may not enter other equitation classes. Contestants must ride horses they have owned nd-or trained since June 1, 1984 and must do all work possible in preparations for showing the horses. The horse contests will be conducted accor ling to rules and recommendations of the "4-H Horse Contest Outline, 4-H 1301." and the Oregon 4-H Horse Project, "4 11 130," and rules established and set down by the Morrow County 4-H Advisory Committee. Plain leather or flat curb chains must be one-half inch in width. Dress should conform to the class. Boots are required, hats and spurs optional. No chaps allowed except in trail horse class. There will be no horses on trail or jumping course after course set-up. There will be no horses except in trailer area, arena and far east part of grounds. Age classification of horse contest exhibitors: Beginner first year members who are in 4th or Mh grade Junior 5th and 6th grades, second or third year members Intermediate 7th. Bth, 9th grades Senior 10th, 11th, 12th grades The Ail-Around award is based: one-third from Showmanship, one-third from Western Equitation, and one-third from either Trail or English Equitation, For All Around award in each age group only one horse's points will count. Entrant will specify on pre-entry blank which horse on entry blank to count points on. Entrant will also specify whether they want points for Trail or English Equitation on entry blank. Entrants not specifying will receive lowering of points. Champion and Reservejliampioa In each age dlvUlon DIVISION 1 HORSE JUDGING CONTEST Open to all 4-H members. Each contestant will judge halter classes, riding classes, and tack -feed identification classes. Each contestant will submit oral and written reasons on class specified by judge. PREMIUMS Team: 1st-tiO.OO. 2nd -17,50. 3rd -13.08 Individual: 1st -13.00, 2nd $4.00, 3rd 13.00, 4th - $2.00. 5th II .00 Teams will 1 made up of three members from the same club. There will be a fifteen minute break between these divisions in order that entrants may prepare for showmanship. DIVISION 2 4-H HORSE SHOWMANSHIP PR EM 1 1 M.N I'.lue -10. Red -$.'.. While - I Basis for scoring is : Club member - 25 percent , horse and equipment -- 25 percent, showing 50 percent. Showmanship is the exhibitor's demonstration of sportsman ship, courtesy, grooming, poise, confidence, and of how to fit, train, and show horse to best advantage. The judge will then ask each individual for any or all of the movements listed in the 4 H Contest Outline. Contestants will not be asked to mount or dismount. Exhibitors may show English or Western.
