By ASHI.KY CONKMN In a close basketball game on Friday, Dec. 16, the lone Cardinals lost to the Wheeler Falcons 47 to 43. Howard Leavitt and Rnndy McCabe both had four points for lone while Jason Shaffer had six for Wheeler. Bill Maclnnes scored nine of the Falcons' 16 second stanza points compared to eight points for lone in the stanza. Jason Shaffer pulled down 14, Maclnnes and Jon Hankins eight. For lone, McCabe had 10, Leavitt and Mark Meyers collected six. Maclnnes tossed in 16 points while Hankins and Shaffer had 10 and nine respectively. McCabe scored 15 for lone followed by 13 from Meyers. Inc.. Lake Forest, Illinois. Palmer is a student at Eastern Oregon State College in LaGrande. Students are selected for recognition by their deans or from their school's Dean's List. The 85,000 students in cluded in the current edition are from 2,500 colleges and universities nationwide and represent one-half of one per cent of the more than 8,000,000 college students in the country. Chris Rea led the Cardinals with six points. Behind six Wayne Wilgers' points in the second period, Heppner came back to trail onlv 16-10 at halftirne. The Cards increased their lead to 30-20 by outscoring the Mustangs 14 to 10 in the third quarter. Deena Hams and Sandi Wright each scored four points for IOne in the period. Wheeler exploded for 21 second stanza points to take a 35-17 halftirne lead. Julie Van swoll and Barb Caldera both scored six in the stanza for the Falcons. In the third quarter Wheeler scored 16 to four for the Cardinals to increase their lead to 51 21. lone out -scored the Falcons 15-8 in the final quarter as Hams scored seven and Patty McEIIigott six for lone. Whee- From the free throw line the Cardinals made 6 of 26 for 23 percent compared to 11 of 29 for 38 percent for the Falcons.
