The lone Cardinal boys'
varsity basketball learn lost to
the Riverside Pirates BO 46 on
Tuesday. Deo. 13.
Riverside ran out to a com
manding 22 to ll lead in the
opening stanza. Tom Meade
and Dung Pratt had the hot
hands early for the Pirates as
they scored nine and eight
points respectively.
Neither team scored a lot in
the second period as the Car
dinals out-scored the Pirates
seven to five. Riverside led at
the break 27-18.
Pratt. Kelly Seel and Dan
Daltoso each scored four
points in the third quarter as
the Pirates increased their
lead to 44-28

McCabe led the Caredinal
scoring with 20 points. Pratt
had 18 for the Pirates.

In a close basketball game
on Friday, Dec. 16, the lone
Cardinals lost to the Wheeler
Falcons 47 to 43.
Both teams kept pace with

the end of the period. Howard
Leavitt and Rnndy McCabe
both had four points for lone
while Jason Shaffer had six
for Wheeler.
Bill Maclnnes scored nine of
the Falcons' 16 second stanza
points compared to eight
points for lone in the stanza.
Wheeler took a lead of 26-18 at

lone out-scored the Falcons
11-10 in the third quarter to
pull within 36 to 29.
The Cardinals outscored
Wheeler 14 to 11 in the fourth
quarter but the Falcons held
on to win 47 - 43.
Wheeler out-rebounded lone
35 to 27. Jason Shaffer pulled
down 14, Maclnnes and Jon
Hankins eight. For lone,
McCabe had 10, Leavitt and
Mark Meyers collected six.
Maclnnes tossed in 16 points
while Hankins and Shaffer had
10 and nine respectively.
McCabe scored 15 for lone
followed by 13 from Meyers.
From the field. lone made 16
of 56 shooting 29 percent,
while W'heeler made 19 of 58
shots for 33 percent. At the
foul line the Cards were 11 of
23 for 48 percent, compared
with 9 of 16. 56 percent for the
Falcons.

tional Dean's List." the lar
gest recognition publication
honoring college students,
published by Educational
Communications. Inc.. Lake
Forest, Illinois. Palmer is a
student at Eastern Oregon
State College in LaGrande.
Students are selected for
recognition by their deans or
from their school's Dean's
List. The 85,000 students in
cluded in the current edition
are from 2,500 colleges and
universities nationwide and
represent one-half of one per
cent of the more than 8,000,000
college students in the
country.

with a 40 to 30 win over the
Heppner freshmen on Friday,
Dec. 9.

Heppner came back to trail
onlv 16-10 at halftirne.
The Cards increased their
lead to 30-20 by outscoring the
Mustangs 14 to 10 in the third
quarter.

after the first period. Deena
Hams and Sandi Wright each

Wheeler exploded for 21

scored six in the stanza for the
Falcons.
In the third quarter Wheeler
scored 16 to four for the
Cardinals to increase their
