Drcrmbrr 22. 1983 N (MJROfw All Saints' Episcopal Church On Saturday, Dec. 24, a Christmas service will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Heppner at 11 p.m. Preceeding the service, carols will be sung at 10:30 p.m. A Christmas service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Christmas Dav. Dec. 25. lone United Church of Christ At 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24, a family candlelighting service will be held at the lone United Church of Christ. The service is especially designed to include children. Special music will be by Loa Stevens and the Rev. Cathy Barker. At 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Holy Communion will be celebrated and a candlelighting Service will begin. The choir's anthem will be "Sing Now the First Noel!" On Christmas Day. there will be no service of worship; however, the church will be warm and open for personal worship throughout the morning. United Methodist Church A Christmas Eve Service will be held at United Methodist Church in Heppner at 7:30 p.m., featuring special musical numbers. Holy Communion will be jointly celebrated with the Rev. Rob Andrews-Bryant, pastor of United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Ed Watts, vicar of All Saints' Episcopal Church. A traditional passing of the light will be held. "Barrington Bunny" will be read in lieu of a sermon. On Christmas Day. no Sunday school will be held. A worship service will begin at 10:30a.m. The church choir will lead Christmas music. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints will hold a Christmas service on Sunday, Dec. 25, 10 a.m.. at the Morrow County School District office in Lexington. The sermon will be entitled "Peace on Earth." A children's Christmas program with music will also be held during the service. Friendship Baptist Church A Christmas service will be held at Friendship Baptist Church in Heppner December 25 at 10.30 a.m. with Christmas music. No Sunday school will be held that day and there will be no evening service. Hope & Valby Lutheran Churches A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church in Heppner at 6 p.m. It will be a service of carols and readings. Sandy Matheny will be soloist. At 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve a candlelight service of carols and readings will be held at Valby Lutheran Church at Eightmile. On Sunday, Christmas Day, Holy Communion will be celebrated at 9 a m. at Valby, and at It a m, at Hope. On Sunday, Jan. 1, a worship service will begin at 9 a.m. at Valby and at 11 a m. at Hope. The Christian Life Center Seventh-day Adventist Church Lexington Christian Church A Christmas service will be held at the Christian Life Center in Heppner on Sunday, Dec. 25, beginning at 10 a.m. Holv Communion will be celebrated. A Christmas service will be held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Heppner at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. Christmas music will be featured. A Christmas service of song, prayer and Holy Communion wil be held at the Lexington Christian Church. The service will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Christmas Day. St. Patrick's & St. William's Catholic Churches On Friday. Dec. 23, confession will be from 6:30 to 8 p m t St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Heppner. On Saturday, Dec. 24, there will be no Vigil Mass. Confession will be from 6:30 to 8 p m At 1 1 : 30 p.m. a singing of carols will be held, followed at midnight by a Mitss of Cliistmas. The sermon will be by the Rev. Local school cooks have been asked to submit their favorite holiday recipes, and students in a Lean Cuisine Class, taught by Linda Panter at Heppner High School, have submitted low calorie recipes for holiday use. Here is a recipe from Joan McDaniel, a cook at Heppner High School: 1 pkg. (8 oz. softened l4 c. mayonnaise 2 c. ground cooked ham 2 Tbsp. chopped parsley Crunchy Cheeseball From Joan McDaniel cream cheese. 1 tsp. minced onion tsp. dry mustard l4 tsp. hot pepper sauce c. chopped peanuts or pistachio nuts Beat cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth. Stir in next five ingredients. Cover and chill several hours. Form into ball and roll in nuts to coat. Serve with crackers. The following is a recipe from the Lean Cuisine Class: Survival Party Mix From Nancy Martin '4 c. margarine 24 c. rice cereal i tsp. seasoned salt 24 c. wheat cereal 4 4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 4 c. mixed nuts 2 4 c. corn cereal 4 c. broken stick pretzels Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Melt margarine in large shallow roasting pan in oven. Remove from oven and stir in seasoned salt and Worcestershire sauce. Add cereal, nuts and pretzels. Mix until all pieces are coated. Heat in oven 60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool. Makes 84 cups, 95 calories per 4 cup.
