Nomination of officers was held with N G. Ieila Palmer, V G. Virginia Peck. Secretary Delpha Jones and Treasurer Dorothy Rur cham being nominated. Fol lowing the meeting lovely re freshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bellamy are the proud parents of a baby son born at St. Mary Hospital in Walla Walla, Wash. The young man joins twin brothers at home. The maternal grandmother is Majo Hughes of U-xington. Gerry Messenger is a pa tient in Adventist Hospital in Portland and is recuperating from major surgery there on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Huhl have had the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Robert son and John Robertson, Al Vela. Karen Webster and Dara lxe Snider, all of Bend. Mr, and Mrs. Gale Marshall of Albany have been visiting at the L K. Ruhl home and the Kenneth Marshall home. Mr. and Mrs. C? C. Jones attended the Melissa Smith Rick Brooks wedding on Sa turday at the Baptist Church in Hermiston. The bride is the daughter of Valda Irvin Smith and Stuart Smith. Following the wedding the young couple will make their home in Alaska where he is stationed with the Army Charlene Whitney, Frank Wilcox and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bowen were visitors at the Cecil Jones home on Sunday. The Bowens are from Hermis ton. and the other guests were enroute to their home in Port land. Mr. and Mrs T E. Messen ger. Sr., F.rda Pieper and Paul Morey were Pendleton callers on Monday where they consulted a physician. The C W A of Iexington Grange met at the home of Venice Hendrickson on Tues day morning Hot cinnamon rolls and coffee were served Plans were completed for the Columbia Basin Electric Co-op annual meeting dinner on Thursday. Nov. 10 at the fairgrounds in Heppner. Plans were also discussed for a Pomona Grange luncheon at the lexington Grange Hall on Octoter 29 Final plans for the turkey dinner and the Blue Mt. Fiddler's Concert were made. It will te held Saturday, Oct. 15. at Iexington Grange Hall at 6pm An election of officers was held with Frances Smouse elected chairman, Luella Taylor as vice-chairman. If there are 30 or more, the district may send three to state rather than only two The winning junior and senior participants auto matically earn a trip to state. Mike Warren. the stage area of Heppner High School last Wednesday night, over 30 interested and enthusiastic people formed the new community theater group. The Individual members, ranging in aRe from 15 months to the 90s. introduced them selves and discussed possible activities for this season. Many were interested in nrosenfing a musical this winter, possibly on January 19 and 20. and a full-length comedy or drama early in May. Giving shorter perfor mances such as one-act plays, skits and readings for special audiences was also discussed. After brainstorming titles for the larger productions. the group formed volunteer com mittees to Investigate royal ties, scripts and other mate rials to report at the next Monday, Oct. 17. 7 p.m.. in room two at the high school.
