Page Special Fair & Rodeo Section 4-H Fashion Revue to show newest ideas in young styles Young model from lost year's Fashion Revue Models will be showing the newest ideas in ycyng fashions at the annual 4-H Fashion Revue Monday. August 22. 7:30 p.m. Always a crowd pleaser, the event this year will be staged outdoors with a backdrop of the garden club's flower garden. Girls and boys look forward to the special event where they show their skills in sewing and Applications to be available at Morrow Co. Fair If you would like to be a member of the 1984 Morrow County Fair and Rodeo Court, you may pick up applications during the fair at the court's booth. There are new rules which 4-H quilt to go home with lucky winner Red, white and blue the all American colors are featured in a 4-H quilt that will go home with some lucky person from County Fair. The quilt is the result of a sewing skills contest a few years ago. Members of the North Mor row Homemakers Group recently priced and tied the quilt. Various squares proudly carry the names of former and present members who made them. 1983 Fair boasts many new ideas There will be new ideas galore at the 1983 Morrow County Fair! Many departments have taken on a new look with additions and decorations. Several have been moved to new locations to allow for better and larger display as well as grouping related areas for more ease in viewing. - " ., . ..... : m coordinating fashionable outfits, as w ell as their poise and charm Prior to the public fashion revue, the young models are judged with each paraticipant receiving a blue, red or white ribbon. Four-H invites the public to attend and enjoy their Fashion Revue. New ideas and new skills will be evident! can be picked up with the appli cations. Court try-outs will be held Sunday, September 25, during the Fair Appreciation Dinner at the fairgrounds. Look for the quilt on display at the fair. Prior to fair, it will be on display at the Heppner T.V. office. A donation to 4-H provides the opportunity to win the quilt. Fxlension Service Fashions for Women Architectural styling with Oriental influences create a sense of casual sophistication in women's fall fashions. The major new look is railed "casual crops." The silhouette is a V-shape, flowing wide and loose on top to slim below the waist. Paramount to the shape-up are dolman sleeves, cropped tops and slim cropped pants. The most important fashion detailing is asymme trical collar treatments and closures. Mandarin collars are also featured. Short jacketed suits are favored. Jumpers have been revived in softly fitted styles Sweater dressing is as popu lar as ever. Subtle changes in keeping with the architectural mood update the classic ap proach. Geometeric patterns persist. Sweater sets give layered looks new vitality. The newest sweater trends are long or short, often in novelty knits Features include broad ened shoulderlines. high or low necklines, waist high or thigh low lengths. The effect is trim and figure conscious on one hand and loosely fitted casual on the other. Pairing is much in evidence, such as a slouchy tunic vest over a matching cardigan. Cropped pants are designed to show off textured hosiery and ankle boots. Generally, pants are softly tailored and slim, in lengths just above the ankle to mid-calf. An excep tion to narrow-legged pants is Oriental samurai pants which are widely flared. Part of the '5(s influence is seen in Mari lyn Monroe or Norma Jean pants. These are tighter fit ting, stop at the ankle and often have slits or zippers. Black denim cropped jeans emerge as a fashion state ment. Twills, gabardines, corduroys, brushed fabrics and haberdashery looks offer plenty of variety for dressing up or down, The color spectrum favors deep, dark shades of navy, rust. teal, purple and green plus midtone browns. Gray goes it alone or is used to give winter pastels a gray cast creating a soft Shetland ap pearance. Soft colors include coral, lavender, blue and green. Overdyeing brings out jewel -like tones. With fabric selections more versatile than ever, consu mers are reminded to check care labels when shopping. The convenience and economy of washability is a fashion plus Rich novelty satins and taffetas in a variety of man made fibers are used in dressy blouses. There is a strong emphasis on knits utilizing a broad grouping of natural and synthetic yarns Yarns are mixed to build surface interest and color accents including loop yarns, nubbed yarns and tapestry, jaequard and pat tern wheel looks. Rustic tex tures are seen in nubby tweeds, brushed cottons and novelty knits and wovens with crinkled and sculptured ef fects Forecast for Menswear Color and texture are the newsmakers in men's fash ions, A conservative styling approach enhances the effect of mixing materials and tex tures in the same colors. The trend in all fabrics is toward darker, deeper tones with touches of bright color. Over dyeing is used to intensify shades. Black, white and gray are the leaders, with black frequently used as a ground or contrast Use of black is a mainstay in shirts and swea ters. Bottom weights feature more brushed surfaces in cot tons and blends of synthetic and natural fibers. Textured polyester fabrics look like worsteds. Some are blended with wool. Donegal tweeds, herringbones and windowpane plaids are pattern choices in dress pants. Double pleats are basic. Corduroy In cotton, blends or polyester range from widewale to fine. Colored stripes. Donegal nubs, smooth surfaces alternating with lines of cord, herringbone and minicheck patterns and diagonal cords provide new interest. There are also poly ester knits that look like woven corduroy. Corduroy is used as trim on twill or canvas casual pants. In jeans, stone washing for a worn, faded look, black denim and striped denim continue strong. Char coal denim is making an ap pearance. Styles range from standard five-pocket jeans to pull-on piped models and neat trouser lks There is a general move to vertical patterns with her ringbones and stripes in deep, rich colors playing an impor tant role In cotton and blends for sportshtrts, strong colors are combined with black, gray or dtrp blue for heightened contrast. The spotlight in dress skirts is on collars and colors. The collars go every way. The colors are darker with stripes the predominant pattern.
